Hello! My name is Samuel Walter. I am a cellist and cello teacher located in New Haven, CT.
I received both an MM and MMA from the Yale School of Music and a Bachelor of Arts degree at Haverford College. During the past eight years I have dedicated much of my time to teaching, running a private cello studio in New Haven, teaching at Yale's Music in Schools Initiative and working as a cello instructor at several summer festivals and music camps. In 2017 and 2018, I worked as a TA for Jonathan Koh at the Meadowmount School of Music providing instruction to students from prestigious pre-college programs including the Glenn Gould School and Juilliard Pre-College. In 2019-2021, I worked as a conductor and cello instructor at the Yale School of Music's Morse Academy. My private high school students have gone on to win competitions including the New Haven Chamber Orchestra Competition and have also participated in the CT Regional and All-State orchestras.
I work with every student to fulfill there goals on the instrument, whether that be joining youth orchestras, winning competitions, pursuing a professional career in performance, or just simply enjoying music.
