Walter is only "One Call Away". He is very friendly and helpful! He helped with our bathroom mirror hanging and kitchen countertop refreshment. He was even willing to come multiple times to get the job done and made adjustments to meet our expectations. We saved his contact and will def keep him in mind when we have new needs!

Harry worked on replacing our kitchen faucet as it had been leaking for some time and replaced a very old toilet that did not flush very well with a brand new toilet that works perfectly. He made sure that no matter what the job was done all in the same day which we were very grateful and pleased with. We will absolutely use him for any future jobs needed big or small!

Rome was exceptionally reasonable with his pricing compared to other quotes we received, and he started at our soonest convenience. His talented crew were a pleasure to have in our home as they tackled several projects we were working on. We had Rome renovate our kitchen, wallpaper and paint our dining room, paint and renovate cabinets in our billiard room, and paint several other rooms in our home, they replaced several wood planks on our pergola and on the deck and steps that were unsafe and his wood worker went above and beyond with his amazing skills to go the extra mile with several things on the deck that needed changing or that that needed a face lift. They power washed our home and made it look new and replaced several odds and ends that had just been needing a new look. He was always willing to work around our busy schedules and eager to please. He is a very kind, pleasant presence which we appreciated as we were working with him and his crew for several weeks. They were always on time and clear about what they were doing and what they needed in order for us to prepare for different projects. We had our kitchen counters removed and a family member was going to be inheriting them, and he was even kind enough to take his time and his crews time to help transport them to the new owners vehicle which was greatly appreciated and much needed. I would go on and on about how Rome and his crew were a pleasure to work with but i dont want to fail to mention what a wonderful person he actually is and how he truly cares if you are happy with the outcome of things and the progress as well. Rome is a one of a kind find when it comes to anything having to do with your home and he will respect your home and things in it more then i have ever witnessed with any other company. He is a great man of his word and was a great find on this sight!!! We will always call Rome in the furure for anything relating to home improvement. If youre lucky enough to find him youre lucky enough!! Hopefully Rome gets to see this review so he knows how very thankful we are that we found him and were blessed enough to have him make our home everything we wanted and more!! Rome and his professional, caring crew are one of a kind, skilled and professional!!!!

JCEC contractors (http://www.jcecpainting.com/about.html) and painting company do more than just paint a room they actually transform a room. My wife has been watching all of the DIY shows on television and came up with an idea on changes she wanted to make to the kitchen. From her idea to completion, the transformation was amazing. We did not have to contract out to many different sub-contractors the team at JCEC did it all including electrical, tile work, woodwork and yes painting. I would strongly recommend them to anyone who is looking for someone who can do it all and at a good price.

The guys did an amazing job in my kitchen and my basement. I originally wanted just new countertops and new floors in my basement, but as the job progressed I knew I needed to take advantage of the fact that I had amazing craftsmen working in my home. They were so responsive and open with their material and labor costs I truly couldn’t resist asking them to do more jobs for me. I’m not much of a person who leaves reviews, but since they did such an amazing job I feel as though it’s important for anyone looking for a new kitchen anywhere in Nassau and and Suffolk County New York that Dimension Restoration and Construction is by far their best and most competitively priced option. I did get other quotes which the office girl Ishita suggested I do and she was right to do so. The prices I received from allure and a bunch of other kitchen and bath companies was DOUBLE what Dimension Restoration and Construction charged me. I have to say this has been hands down the easiest remodel I have ever experienced in my history of owning my home. Thank you Dimension!

After owning our home for over 40 years we were finally ready to remodel the original 1956 master bathroom. We interviewed 4 other contractors before meeting with "For-U-Builders" who seemed to share our vision for transforming our obsolete bathroom into a masterpiece of timeless design combined with quality craftsmanship. Each member of their team, from the owner to the sub-contractors approached the job with professionalism and enthusiasm, along with the in-house coordinator who communicated almost daily with ordering & scheduling details, assuring that the project was well orchestrated from start to finish. We couldn't be happier with the results and feel fortunate to have had this firm complete our dream bathroom on time and at a reasonable (middle of the range) cost. We will surely be using them again for our future projects.

Working with Bharti is like exploring your own sense of aestheticism. She is not only the most comfortable interior designer to work with, but a beautiful person at heart to know. She gives out wonderful ideas to make your house appealing to all your senses including your soul. When I moved into my new house, it was overwhelming for me to initiate the process of setting it up. Bharti was my soul saver who came with excellent ideas and helped me fill up my house with class and comfort. Working with her was a joyful journey as her patience and calmness helped my cluttered thoughts come out seamless. I highly recommend working with her, she is the best designer.

Nick was wonderful to work with! He was prompt in his replies, gave me an accurate estimate, and did beautiful work on my kitchen backsplash. We had some scheduling difficulties, but even that did not bother me because Nick's communication was so good that I always knew what was going on and was able to plan around it. It turned out that there was a difference in my counter heights from the left side of my stove to the right (my home is 60 years old). Nick was able to correct for this and the backsplash looks AMAZING! I will definitely be using Nick's services in the future. I would recommend him to anyone!

I hired Mike to renovate our family room to give it an updated look. Work included taking down old dark paneling, new sheet-rock, taping, painting, new trim around the base of the room and around the windows, installing 3 new windows and a new slider door. Mike was timely and consistent from beginning to end, from phone calls and emails to showing up when he said he would be there. His work was priced fairly and his attention to detail is something I admire. I can't stress enough how clean he kept the room while working. Always using drop cloths and vacuuming everyday before he left. I get tons of compliments of our new updated room and I would highly recommend Goodman Building Company! I have already talked to Mike about the next few projects, updating my kitchen and bathroom in a few months!

I evaluated numerous interior designers before deciding on Design Cache Interiors, and it is with great pleasure that I am writing this testimonial. It is a company run by a highly professional and delightful person who is clearly passionate about her chosen career. In charge of all matters design-related, Darlene's expert eye for style, color, materials and space has proved invaluable in the process of turning our new house into a classy, inviting and treasured home. Design Cache Interiors has not only met my high expectations, but actually exceeded them. I was sold ever since my first consultation with Darlene. A winning attitude and outstanding listening skills were coupled with Darlene's uncanny ability to quickly identify our (mainly mine) tastes and styles, as well as effortlessly and creatively managing to incorporate existing pieces of furniture into an innovative design and layout. Throughout the process, I was given options, never pressured, merely gently guided in the direction of my desired look. Moreover, even my husband, who was initially opposed to involving professionals, was very pleasantly surprised upon realizing that his apprehension of designers creating an overly pricey space proved to be completely unfounded. In fact, we were both astounded at how very affordable this project turned out to be! This was significantly aided by the trade discounts we benefited from, as well as Darlene's highly commendable diligence and efficiency. This project, so close to my heart, was perfectly executed from concept to end product, very timely and within budget. In summary, she has been a veritable joy to work with, and I intend to continue consulting her expertise. I cannot recommend Darlene highly enough: knowledgeable, organized, detail-oriented, very honest, conscientious and truly caring-- to name but some of her qualities. Darlene of Design Cache Interiors was among the best decisions I’ve ever made! Stacy Muttontown

We could not be happier with Dennis's work....our house looks amazing. It is a late 1800's construction that required a complete lead abatement and restoration. Dennis and his crew stripped it down to bare wood meticulously, replaced clapboards and trim, repaired the back porch and antique garage doors, and today it is a show piece, which the Historical Society wants to include in their next house tour! Dennis was instrumental in guiding us toward the perfect color scheme and design, which admittedly was not our original idea, but in retrospect turned out perfectly....we can't thank Dennis and Pro Quality enough for all they did. Dennis goes above and beyond to get every last detail just right, and his customer's satisfaction is clearly the highest priority. A true master at what he does....

Jonathan is brilliant, in his knowledge of how to design something you have in your head onto paper, precisely. He has the tools, the background education, the psychology to deal with people who just don't know if their ideas about what they want can be done and he interacts with people like no one I have ever met before. I was so lucky to have found him, I recommend him to anyone who is thinking about doing a home project and just does not know where to begin. Jonathan is your person to help you with this!! He is so happy doing this job and that means us, as homeowners benefit from his joy of his job! I recommend to anyone thinking of updating/adding on their home to use Jonathan!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do interior designers do?

Interior designers do much more than pick complementary paint colors and choose matching furniture — although those tasks are important parts of the job. Unlike decorators, interior designers usually have an associate of science degree or certificate of achievement in interior design from an accredited program. They’re trained in drafting, lighting and computer aided design (CAD), and are experts in room-specific design and residential space planning. Interior designers use these skills to plan and design safe, highly functional and beautiful interior spaces, from kitchens and bathrooms to family rooms and bedrooms. They determine space requirements, work within building codes and inspection regulations, and meet accessibility standards. An interior designer’s day-to-day job includes creative and technical tasks, both of which often require great communication skills:

  • Creating model rooms and visuals using design software.
  • Researching different textiles, materials, finishes, lighting and furniture.
  • Hiring suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
  • Estimating costs and making bids on potential jobs.

How do you find a good interior designer?

For many homeowners, the difference between a good interior designer and a bad one is simply a matter of taste — but all good designers have similar skill sets. Interior designers usually have a degree or certificate in interior design, with training in design principles and lighting, drafting, and computer aided design (CAD) software. Good interior designers have strong color balancing skills and understand how different colors influence spatial perception and moods. They know the building and electrical codes in the areas where they practice, and they make sure that any contractors they hire also work to those codes. They are knowledgeable about different upholstery fabrics and draperies, stay ahead of residential design trends, and maintain their own individual creativity. Also, good interior designers have excellent space designing skills, so they can arrange a space efficiently and with ideal traffic flow. Ultimately, hiring a good interior designer means pinpointing one whose signature style is complementary to your personal style — so checking out many designers’ portfolios is a must — and whose communication methods match yours.

How do you choose an interior designer?

Choosing an interior designer is all about finding one whose signature style fits well with your tastes and who can work within your budget. To choose the right professional for your interior design project, ask yourself these five questions:

  • What is your signature style? Good interior designers can both describe their personal aesthetic and demonstrate their signature style through their portfolios. Make sure it appeals to you.
  • How will you make sure the design fits my lifestyle? Good designers understand that the interior design must improve a homeowner’s experience in their home and fit into their lifestyle; for example, a white suede sofa is a poor choice for a family with large dogs and small children.
  • How much do you charge? Depending on the project, an interior designer may charge an hourly rate, a flat fee or a percentage of the project’s total cost.
  • How will you stick to my budget? An interior designer should have a plan for staying within your budget, which includes full transparency of costs and flexibility when choosing materials and furnishings.

Because an interior design project is highly collaborative and based on hard-to-define personal preferences, it’s most important to choose a designer who communicates clearly and listens closely to you.

How much do interior designers charge?

You can hire an interior design for a job as basic as a one-room consultation or as complex as supervising the design of an entire new home, helping with space planning, choosing color palettes, and shopping for furniture, flooring and artwork. The size and scope of the job will determine how much an interior designer charges; the average national cost for an interior designer ranges from $75 to $100 or more per hour. Other cost factors include the person’s reputation — interior designers to the stars are usually more expensive — and region. Most interior designers charge an average of $100-$225 for an initial consultation, but some will charge an hourly rate, usually starting at an average of $50, for larger projects that require extensive consultations. Hourly rates may be available for smaller projects, such as redecorating a living room or staging a home for sale; for instance, shopping and consulting can cost an average of $75 to $100 per hour, while staging costs and average $95 per hour. For many homeowners, a percentage of an interior designer’s cost is recouped through the professional discounts they receive from their vendors.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
