My wife and I eloped in Paris, and were looking to plan a reception for friends and family with a French theme. After trading a few messages on Thumbtack, Laura came to our home with a selection of French appetizers. With only a few suggestions from us, Laura did some research and prepared a few French dishes for a tasting while we discussing a plan for the party. We talked menu, logistics and pricing while tasting Laura's fantastic creations. We went with Laura because she shared our enthusiasm for the French theme and because she has a great attention to detail. Since we didn't plan our reception before eloping, we only had a few weeks to put everything together. Laura was instrumental in helping us plan our party for ~140 guests on such short notice. She immediately put us in touch with a rental company and prepared a list of necessary items for us to order. Laura and her staff showed up ~2 hours before the start of cocktail hour. They set up all of the tables according to our floor plan and stocked three full bars. Because of her planning and her helpful, organized and polite staff, cocktail hour and dinner went off without a hitch. The guests raved about Laura's French appetizers, entrees and desserts. After supervising the food preparation throughout the night, Laura herself came out to the dessert station to make crepes hot-to-order for our guests. This was such a nice added touch and really highlights Laura's dedication to her craft. I have full confidence that Laura can prepare any menu and any dish. She is a talented chef and, with her staff, she runs a flawless party. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her for any event, and I'd especially recommend Laura if you have something specific in mind.

I wanted to give a full throated endorsement to Laura and her excellent staff at Sunflowers Catering and Event Planning. My wife and I hired Laura on the good advice of a friend to cater our wedding party in the Brooklyn art district of DUMBO in the art gallery Smack Mellon. We could not be happier. First Laura was incredibly attentive and thorough making multiple site inspections ahead of the wedding and interfacing with the venue manager. Her preplanning and coordination was excellent. Laura runs a super tight ship and her staff were poised and on point. I grew up in the hospitality business on Martha’s Vineyard and I have catered many, many weddings. I know a well oiled machine when I see one and watching the hustle of the staff setting up ahead of the event immediately calmed my frayed wedding day nerves. I knew we were in excellent hands. Now the Food! The food was fantastic. We had a raw bar that people were raving about, the passed appetizers were delicious. It was a great feeling when dinner was served and word began to make it back to us that the guests were very happy and impressed. The cookies we asked for at the end of the night were also especially tasty. Our wedding came off like a charm, it was a great night and we owe a large part of it to Laura. Laura has catered many parties for me and my family. Every meal she creates is presented beautifully and tastes amazing! We have enjoyed her specialty cakes from Communion to Graduation! Each one was personally designed. Laura recently catered a holiday party for us and once again her food was presented and served perfectly by her staff. My kitchen was left spotless and her kitchen staff and waitresses are diligent and friendly! Her expertise in party planning has been so helpful and her ideas are so creative. July 31, 2015 my niece was married in our backyard. We had 80+ guests. Marty was invaluable in walking us through the planning process. With his experience in wedding planning, he guided us through the pitfalls of omission and commission. With his extensive contacts he is able to provide all services necessary for a successful event. He was mindful of our budget and worked with us achieve the event we envisioned. We used friends and family for some services, such as tent, tables and chair rentals. We had our own people for Bar Service and used Marty's contact for all other catering and waitstaff. Marty coordinated all aspects of the event. On the day of the wedding, Marty and his assistant were there an hour before the guests arrived until the party was over My wife and I enjoyed the party with our guests, while Marty oversaw EVERYTHING, and took care of all glitches and kept us on schedule.Lastly, Marty is a Magician.Not just as to his planning skills, but he performs sleight of hand tricks. During the party, Marty went from table to table and astounded and amused the children and the adults with his magic tricks. All in all, it was an Amazing Event.

I feel like I could write a novel about how awesome it was to work with Tammie and the fam at Desert Vines Events. I'll just highlight some of my favorite things and give you a TL;DR - five stars---no, ten stars. Would hire again in a heartbeat, no need to look anywhere else. - Little creative details everywhere!! Hire Desert Vines if you want someone who can truly help you create a DIY wedding on a shoestring budget. I can only imagine what she could do with a full budget! - Tammie let me take the lead, even when I proposed some crazy ideas. She never shot them down, either... she'd just go through the logistics to make sure we'd thought of everything. I liked the way, when I would suggest something kinda weird, she would very gently tell me what she thought and suggest alternatives---but if I pressed on, she would step back and let me do my thing. That meant a lot to me. It was good to have someone keeping me grounded, but also who would step back and let me take risks if I wanted to. - Immediately after hiring her, Tammie quickly identified and addressed any tasks that I had overlooked or was dragging my feet on, and took care of them completely. Her doing this gave me the space to focus on my favorite parts of event planning, and allowed me to let go of some aspects that I cared less about. All the tasks she took over for me proceeded to run seamlessly at the event; I didn't have to think twice about them. - Tammie was endlessly patient and kind, even when I got stressed out. She always found a way to look on the bright side of things, which I find to be a great quality in a planner. - It was genuinely fun to brainstorm ideas with her. She's so creative and craftsy, we were able to do so much with relatively little... everything looked soo beautiful in the end. - Her crew was so sweet and friendly, and always on the lookout for ways they could help during the event. Charlene did a Great job for our babies 1st birthday. He loves Barney and unfortunately Barney is a little outdated and there's not much out there to buy as far as decorations go. Charlene actually found a big Barney Balloon, along with other things which, when the baby walked in, he went straight to it and wouldn't stop "talking" to it. :) He was a happy birthday boy!!! Charlene was there before me and had everything set up for us. We were in from out of town so that we could celebrate with family so it was a huge help to have her do this for us since we were pressed for time. She even left me things to use such as speakers for music and utensils for the food. She was a huge help and everything I needed she had! I would highly recommend Charlene. I asked Cristal to throw a Quince for my cousin. She's a big Havanna Nights fan but also a glam queen so I need it to be like Cuban Hollywood. And that's what it was! Even with a run in with decor, I thought she wasn't going to be to pull it off but Cristal knows how to make magic happen. She ended up meshing the venues props from two other themed parties and spending minimal on miscellaneous things to pull it all together. From dresses, tux, choreography & menu items she pulled it off! With communication and always consulting with me before any major decisions- the party was a hit and my cousin [came in on a floral swing!!] with the biggest smile on her face. Roger and his team designed and planned my Christmas Season Wedding and it occurred on a stormy, snowy night. The setting and decor was gorgeous with all our ideas incorporated. The winter wonderland incorporated 45 lit trees, gorgeous centerpieces, cupcake tiered cake, many decorated areas, memorial tree, with hundreds of flickering candles, music, entertainment and just the best ambiance and we felt like everything was planned and handled perfectly. We had 110 guests and even the photographer was fantastic. All put together by Roger and his team. Marvelous, memorable event, as it should be.
