Melissa prepared a spectacular birthday dinner for my Mom's 60th birthday, everything was perfect and I'm so thankful to have had Melissa do something special and unique for my mom. Melissa was friendly and is a very skilled chef. Before the date of the dinner, we had a long conversation about food likes/dislikes and the flow of the menu. Melissa was amenable to whatever I suggested, and her menu for the dinner was creative and delicious. Melissa prepared a starter cheese plate which had two cheeses, Italian soda bread, fig spread and granny smith apple. So tasty! Our first course was a shaved brussel sprout salad with warm mustard and apricot vinaigrette. Oh my gosh--THAT was delicious. Our second course consisted of braised lamb shank with parmesan polenta and lots of herbs. Again, very creative and delicious. Melissa is so talented and very nice to be around. She prepped the food, cooked everything, and left the kitchen spotless when she left. She was timely when arriving, and had the courses served promptly and spaced out just right. I would highly suggest Melissa to anyone looking for a personal chef for a special occasion or to help plan and prep meals on a weekly basis.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I've always loved food, and as a young professional I found that cooking dinner was the best part of my day. I loved planning my lunches for the week and preparing them ahead of time. I found myself more excited by cooking than by my day job in marketing, so I decided to return to school and study health-supportive plant-based culinary arts. I earned my culinary training from The Natural Epicurean Academy of Culinary Arts located in Austin, TX.
