Our dog does not warm easily to people she doesn't know, but somehow Pam managed to make fast friends with her! We could tell that our pets were well cared for in our absence. And we really appreciated the frequent text updates. We will definitely use Pam's Pet Sitting Service again.

Jenny is so professional, and her love for animals is obvious!! She came over on short notice, was punctual and caring with my 3 little rescue dogs. She will be house/pet sitting for us for a weekend as well as when we are away on our 10 day vacation. We are so glad that we have found her!!! For us and for the canine members of the family, it is peace of mind knowing that they are in such capable and loving hands!!

My experience with Tailwaggers.has been very positive. Michelle was very professional at all times. She texted me daily with an update and photos of my cats. I was able to enjoy my vacation with no worries that my cats were not being cared for properly. This is the first time we left them without a family member to care for them. I would highly recommend Tailwaggers for your pet sitting needs.

I reached out to Mind Your Pawz for assistance with a rescue dog with fear based issues. Being a new human to this delicate dog I did not not have the confidence needed to get her past her fears. Angela gave me the tools, training and built the confidence needed within me to take allow my rescue to gain the social confidence she needed to enjoy a more fulfilled life. I have also used the boarding services provided by Mind Your Pawz. I highly recommend this loving and safe environment for your pet. I would not leave my dog anywhere else.

Absolutely amazing experience meeting Coleen. She saved the day when I was forced to find a pet sitter while dealing with housing issues. Coleen is a loving caring person and will probably take care of your pet better than you. I still communicate with her multiple times a week and its been 2 months since I got my pup back. My dog is shy and skittish and I could tell she opened up to this vibrant soul. I've already said it a ton and saying it doesn't even cover how I fully feel but THANK YOU SO MUCH COLEEN!!!

I do dog walking and pet sitting. I volunteer at the Humane Society and in the process of going to school as a veterinary assistant.

I will walk and care for your loved one as if they were mine. I can walk pets on any day of the work week -- Monday thru Friday. Send text, and I will return your call to set up the day and time.

I am currently teaching while caring for two Siamese cats and two humanoids who are in process of moving from MA to De. Oops just got full time job teaching so it will be Maggie responding. She & husband still miss their dog, a rescued Pitt from Philly.

I am retired, and will do pet sitting and care in your home. I will do some exercising within reason. Rates are negotiable.

I'm currently working as a vet tech for 19 years now. I have a lot of animal care experience. I walk and board pets in my home. I specialize in senior pets and their needs. I have tons of experience with giving medications and insulin for diabetics. I have been pet sitting 3 years now and do board pets in my home that need extra care.

Hello, my name is Ebony, and I love kids and pets. If you choose me as your babysitter or pet sitter, I will treat your kids or pet as if they were my own. I will take good care of your kid or pet, maybe even both. Not only will your pet get walks in the park, but I can also give them really good baths, have time to play and interact with other dogs if he's friendly of course, he or she will be treated like as if they were my own kids. Now, I also babysit. So, if you have kids, taking care of them would be awesome. I love kids; they are a joy to be around. I am a very caring, honest and responsible, so I hope you would choose me as your babysitter/pet sitter.

I will take care of your pets while you are at work or away, from Mondays thru Fridays. I am very good with animals, owning a dog, a cat and four horses myself!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
