"From the initial inquiry call my wife made, we were very impressed with the listening of details. The communication from start til completion was solid, not at one point did we feel unease’d about our decision to hire them. Not only did they clean my soiled carpets they were able to remove the rust stains caused by the furniture due to a previous water leak, we have hired them more than once already and plan to for future issues and concerns."

"Tifa does a great job and she very professional, dependable and responsive. I have a vacation rental home and cleaning of the entire house has to be completed in a short window of time before the next guest check's in and she meets the deadline each and every time with an utterly clean and spotless house. I am extremely happy I have found her as it is hard to get great customer service nowadays. I highly recommend her for your cleaning needs!"

"My husband and I wanted to deep clean our new home before moving in. Born to Strive Cleaning exceeded every expectation. I am always skeptical when hiring a service online, however, the positive reviews from other customers gave me confidence in their work ethic. I am still blown away by their attention to detail in making sure every nook and cranny was clean and dusted. When I need a cleaning service, I will definitely be using them again!"

"God bless you good brother. Please forgive my delay. The past month and a half has been crazy. Below is the review I wrote. I hope you like the underlined tag line at the bottom. For seven years I’ve had the pleasure of the Great Scot Cleaning Services. On more than a few occasions, Great Scot has exceeded my expectations. After vetting multiple cleaning services, I was chagrined by their lack of professionalism and their attention to, what every homeowner craves, good and affordable service. Not so with Marion and his team of professionals. From power washing to carpet cleaning, and all the little stuff in between, Great Scot Cleaning Services has cornered the market on affordability, without the sacrifice of excellent and reliable service. If that wasn’t enough, I mused at an occasion when Marion went the extra mile by cleaning my cement walkway without the added fee. When asked how much for the extra service, he quipped, “Nothing sir. It just needed to be done.” What’s more, he and his team would often altered their schedule to fit my fluid unavailability. Great Scot that’s good business! Kenneth A. Divers - A well pleased customer."

"I'm currently moving into a new home in Middletown and have been pricing around. When I came across All County Cleaning I thought I was seeing things when I read the price. Their price was more than half of what the other cleaners quoted me. I read the reviews and decided why not I'll give a call. Michael was so helpful and answered all of my questions and assured me I would be extremely satisfied. All I have to say is WOW Michael and Donna showed up and started to work. The end result was beyond my expectations. My pantry was filthy the wire rack shelving was covered in black soot and it now sparkles as well does the rest of the house. I'm definetly hiring them for monthly cleaning services. I even shared my excitement on Facebook to promote their business. Job very well done. Thanks again!!! Jennifer Middletown,DE"

"The servicemen showed up on time, provided some before and after pictures of my gutters, and cleaned up everything and shut my back gate. I had a friend who was gravely injured cleaning gutters, and I decided to hire a professional. I'm going to hire them to clean my windows in September."

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is upholstery cleaning?

From your carpets to your drapes to your furniture, all fabrics need to be cleaned. Cleaning upholstery, or the fabric on your furniture, removes the dirt and oils that are transferred to couches and chairs through regular use. Because furniture upholstery can be delicate and colors can fade easily, it’s often a good idea to let professional sofa cleaners handle the job. They’ll determine the type of fabric — usually cotton, linen, wool, suede or microfiber — and the appropriate method for cleaning it, either steam-cleaning or applying a dry-cleaning solvent. In general, cleaning an entire piece of furniture includes a pretreatment, cleaning, and neutralizing rinse to the body, plus removing and cleaning all cushions and cleaning all crevices.

An upholstery cleaner may clean the entire piece of furniture, on a regular schedule or by request, or do spot treatments to remove pet, food, drink, or oil and grease stains. Furniture can also be deodorized to remove the smell of pets or tobacco smoke. Furniture that’s used often, like that in your family room, should be cleaned once a year to keep it fresh and extend its life. Sofa cleaners often also offer repair services to mend tears in fabric or patch holes in leather.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

  • Old standard or electric toothbrush
  • Stiff bristle brush
  • Spray bottle
  • White vinegar
  • Commercial grout cleaner

How much do you pay for house cleaning?

Hiring a professional house cleaning service is a helpful way to have a healthy home even when your work and personal schedule is packed. House cleaning prices vary based on how many square feet your home is, how dirty your house gets, and how often the cleaning service comes. Some companies charge a set amount — such as 5 cents — per square foot, with a minimum amount, such as $100. The national average cost for house cleaning ranges between $110 and $150. Prices can be lower in areas with a lower cost of living, higher in big cities or affluent regions. You may save money by increasing the frequency of your house cleaning visits. Often a company will charge you less per cleaning when you schedule more cleanings per month. The cost advantage rewards your loyalty, and also reflects the fact that more frequent cleanings make it easier to maintain a high level of cleanliness in your home. A housecleaning service may charge more for the first visit or for one-time services than for recurring cleanings.

How much does it cost to deep clean a house?

Deep cleaning a house goes beyond the surface level to clear out the dust, grime and gunk that’s collecting on the fan blades, hiding in the blinds, and built up inside the refrigerator drawers. Deep cleaning of a home or apartment costs more than regular house cleaning because it takes more time, effort, and cleaning products. You may choose to have a deep cleaning once or several times a year in addition to your standard cleaning services. You may have a one-time deep cleaning to prepare for company or to clean after a house party. Companies may charge an hourly rate or a price per square foot, or may offer you a flat rate after they have visited your home and estimated work time. The national average house cleaning price is $110-$150, with rates ranging higher for deep-cleaning services. Here are some examples of how a company may calculate their deep-cleaning prices:

  • 10 cents per square foot (compared with 5 cents per square foot for standard house cleaning).
  • $300 for a 3,000-square-foot home.
  • $25 per hour per worker for deep-cleaning services.
