Introduction: Susan founded her own educational consulting business in 2001 and has become one of South Florida's most effective consultants for SAT, ACT, GRE, and SSAT/ISEE preparation as well as college advising and resume creation. She is also a professional writer and editor of non-fiction and fiction manuscripts/essays for undergraduate/graduate applications, scholarly use and corporate work. A graduate of Cornell University (B.S.) the University of Maryland (M.Ed.), and Florida Atlantic University (M.A. English), Susan has 20+ years of experience teaching and empowering students in reading, math, writing and study skills. Prior to her work as a private tutor, Susan trained with and taught classes for the Princeton Review, a nationwide test preparation organization. As a former instructor for the Princeton review and a private tutor for math study skills, Susan has a strong background in pre-algebra, algebra, algebra 2, and geometry. She has taught math on many levels to middle and high school students for over two decades. Her writing background has also enabled her to help others to create and/or edit engaging application essays as well as strategic resumes and cover letters. She has also assisted her clients with a variety of writing projects from research papers to editing self-help and autobiographical manuscripts scheduled for publication. Susan loves empowering her students and clients through personalized test preparation and resume/manuscript writing plans, and learning about how each one of her students and clients can be successful at attaining their goals.

Math Tutoring

Susan has been helping my niece excel in math and English. She very patience, kind, and makes sure my niece has a good understanding before moving on to the next topic. My niece feels as though she is ahead of the class because her and Susan have already covered the topics ahead of time.

Susan was one of the best SAT/college prep tutor I have ever come across. She is extremely knowledgeable and knows her craft. In addition, she worked with my daughter on SAT skills and assisted her with college essays and applications. Susan is extremely organized and worked very well with my daughter to complete all these tasks. She is wonderful!! I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone! Suzan Stratakis

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I am flexible and try to work with people within their budget.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I always have a phone consultation with new clients in which we discuss their goals for college planning, math, reading, writing/editing, test preparation or resume writing. For resume and test preparation needs, I ask that they send me their current resume and/or cover letter or any previous test scores so that we can determine next steps as a team. I can usually turn around editing projects, resumes, and cover letters in 7 days (faster if you need it).

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Masters in Education and a Masters in English.
