I got a mini split A.C. system installed in my garage. They were quick to get me an estimate and worked with my schedule to get the A.C. installed as quick as possible. I primarily worked with Billy who was professional and responsive and even followed up after the installation to make sure everything was fine as expected. I highly recommend doing business with them.

Mr. Barnes just replaced our entire air conditioner system and repaired some adequate but less than satisfactory duct work. The exceptional quality and service claim is indeed true. From the beginning, Mr. Barnes was patient and thorough in explaining options and costs to an inquisitive (to put it kindly) customer. The decision made, Mr. Barnes arrived when he said he would, and completed the whole job the same day. His workmanship is first class and he left the site clean. The inspector had many nice things to say about equipment selection and workmanship. Target Air Conditioning was recommended to me by several friends, all very pleased with Mr. Barnes’ service. Not only does Mr. Barnes do a great job up front explaining options, and great work on repairs and installations, he is a very pleasant person and never difficult to reach. I’ll certainly recommend him to all my friends. Thank you, Art!

Mark sent someone out for a free estimate when our ac froze. Turns out we needed a new AC, ours was old and not worth the cost to repair. We got a quote and it included duct sanitization and a UV light which was a great added value. We did get a few cheaper quotes but it didn't include these things or the 5 year labor warranty they offer so we went with CoolAir. Mark was very helpful throughout the process when I called him he always answered and he gave me the feeling I could trust him. The installation went well and we are now enjoying clean cool air.

HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!! THEY ARE PROFESSIONAL, KIND, EAGER TO PLEASE AND REASONABLE! This company is headed by two brothers who work in the field with their employees. Jason and Greg came out within the hour to solve my problem. My air conditioner is only 1 1/2 yrs old but the person who installed it is no longer in business. I've had several companies say they could fix my problem with the house not cooling past 74 and two rooms not getting air at all. None of them fixed the problem and I'm out a lot of money for their inability to fix my air. They all seemed to have a quick fix, get their money and run! Frustrated, I called Efficiency Air. They spotted one problem immediately! Once pointed out, even I could see what had not been done during installation . We scheduled a day to fix the issue. I now have air in two bedrooms that have never had air in the 30 yrs I lived in this home! My house is cool and ready for summer! They also threw in a 2 yr maintenance agreement. I did the research for you and it cost me $$$...to find a reliable company! Don't find out the expensive way I did..... HIRE THESE MEN! YOU WILL BE SO HAPPY YOU DID!! Thank you Jason and Greg!! EFFICIENCY AIR!!!

Jeff is incredible. Our furnace died in the dead of winter in colorado. What service! He came out that day, replaced the furnace and while at it, added a/c to our home for a very reasonable rate. Subsequently, I recommended him to my clients. They were all extremely pleased with Jeff, the product and above all, the service. I would not use anyone else.

They delivered exactly what they said they would. They did NOT take advantage of us just because we were in a vulnerable situation like almost all of the other A/C companies do. Their workmanship was top notch and the price was "spot on." We don't anticipate any problems with our new unit, but if something should arise, we are confident that Amazing Air and Heat will take good care of us. Incidentally, the next morning after the installation of our new "York" air conditioner, as I was driving away to go to work, I looked back at the front of our home and saw something I hadn't seen in over two years. I saw condensation on our front windows. Absolutely AMAZING!!

Replaced complete condenser and air handler. As my old system was dead on Friday I received prices from three highly recommended HVAC service providers and LTC gave me the best up front price. Chris nursed my old system along to survive the weekend and offered me use of a temporary indoor unit in case it broke down. He showed up early Monday and despite bad weather had my complete new system working by end of the day. Service was great, andew system has performed excellent.

Joe did everything he said he would do for an A/C replacement. At the beginning, he reviewed everything he would do during the installation and he did it. I was extremely pleased with his professionalism. He was on time and kept us informed what was happening during the installation.

Climate Solutions went way out of their way to make sure that I was not only satisfied, but followed up for weeks to make sure there were no problems with my new a/c system they installed on a moments notice! Our unit broke down and they were out within hours on a hot humid day to make sure our home maintained an acceptable temperature. Thank you Climate Solutions!!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    Who fixes furnaces?

If your furnace needs to be repaired, you’ll want to find a qualified heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) repair technician. Each state has its own licensing requirements; some require all HVAC technicians to have an HVAC license, while others only require someone operating an HVAC service and installation company with employees to hold a contractor’s license. For example, in Alabama, the Alabama Board of Heating Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Contractors regulates licensing, while in Kansas there is no state regulatory body and HVAC licensing can vary by region. For simple furnace repairs like changing out a filter, a trusted handyman can probably handle the job, but a trained professional should be hired for tasks like replacing a gas valve, installing a new inducer fan motor or other critical furnace repair jobs that involve dealing with gas leaks or other dangerous conditions. For more, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much will it cost me to replace my furnace?

The national average for furnace replacement is between $1,800 and $2,500. The cost can range dramatically higher depending on the model of furnace you select, any repair work you require, your location and the cost of installation. Furnace installation costs can be more than the furnace itself due to the cost of doing business and the expertise needed to install the HVAC equipment. Installing a new furnace generally requires technical know-how and the proper tools and licensing. It’s best to hire a pro and budget for furnace installation rather than risk potentially unsafe DIY installation. This will ensure your home’s safety. Check to see if your HVAC contractor has the proper licensing to do the job. If you need duct repair or replacement, expect to pay more for your furnace installation costs. The price for duct repair could be an hourly rate ranging on average anywhere from $85 to $150 per hour, with additional costs for parts.

How much does it cost to have your furnace cleaned?

To keep your furnace in good working order it’s important to have it regularly cleaned. The national average furnace cleaning cost ranges from $60 to $80, though prices can vary greatly based on where you live in the country and what your furnace maintenance includes. An HVAC company may have different rates for different levels of furnace maintenance. For example, one company may offer general furnace maintenance for $79 and advanced maintenance for $138. Another company may offer a 38-point maintenance check for $89 and a 64-point maintenance check for $178. According to Energy.gov, a standard furnace cleaning and maintenance visit can include:

    • Checking the vent connection pipe and chimney
    • Checking the physical integrity of the heat exchanger
    • Adjusting the controls to provide optimum air temperatures
    • Checking the combustion chamber for cracks
    • Testing for carbon monoxide (CO)
    • Adjusting the blower control and supply-air temperature
    • Cleaning and oiling the blower
    • Removing soot and corrosion from the furnace
    • Checking the fuel input and flame characteristics
    • Sealing the connections between the furnace and the main ducts

How much does it cost to replace a gas furnace?

The cost to replace your gas furnace will vary based on the type and size of furnace you select, labor and installation costs, and any repairs your HVAC system may need. Nationally, average HVAC prices for a heating specialist range between $1,800 and $2,500. It’s important to select the right size gas furnace for your heating needs. A furnace that’s too small won’t heat your house properly, while a furnace that’s too large will run inefficiently, cycling on and off and likely breaking down sooner. HVAC specialists calculate your exact heat needs by measuring your home and incorporating variables such as the regional climate and your home’s level of insulation. Retail pricing for gas furnaces can range from $650 up to $3,000 and more. The higher the AFUE (annual fuel utilization efficiency) rating of the furnace, the more efficient it is at turning fuel into heat and the lower your carbon footprint and utility bill will be. HVAC installation costs are often based on an hourly rate and can range from under $50 to over $100 per hour, depending on the company and the furnace being installed. Higher-end furnaces cost more to install because they require added labor and expertise. For a typical installation, it might take two HVAC installation pros one day or less to remove your old furnace and replace it with a new one.

How much does it cost to have your furnace serviced?

When your furnace isn’t regularly serviced it can operate less efficiently. This increases your energy bills and also prevents your furnace from keeping your home as warm as you like. Keep your furnace properly maintained with regular service. The national average furnace service cost is between $60 and $80. Companies may offer tuneup specials that cover all the necessary testing, tightening, measuring and cleaning to keep your equipment running at top efficiency. If you have a newer system, furnace service costs may be covered by your warranty. Outside of warranty, a basic tuneup might start at $58 and a more advanced maintenance cleaning could be over $120. Here are some signs your furnace may need service:

    • The furnace has stopped functioning entirely.
    • The temperature cannot be regulated.
    • Rooms in the home are either too hot or too cold.
    • The heated air coming from the furnace smells like gas.
    • The thermostat isn’t working.
    • Strange noises are coming from the furnace.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
