FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is based off of a couple different things: time, material, and, in the case that my customer hires me through Thumbtack, the price Thumbtack charges for leads. There are instances where I can be charged over $100 dollars to bid on a job and the customer decides to hire a different professional that they consulted with on Thumbtack. This is the price risk that any entrepreneur is subjected to and when starting out, a lack of reviews or history of work performed through Thumbtack can dissuade a customer from hiring a professional that potentially could do a better job than the one they choose to hire for a lower price. This being said, anybody starting up their own business, unless backed by a significant amount of money, will be forced to have include this consideration in the price of a job, however I will always be fair and balanced, and will not overcharge one single customer in an attempt to recover from all of my expenses incurred through Thumbtack’s services.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to make my customers feel confident that they can trust that I am providing them with Ith the best options available for them given the specific project that is needed from them. I also give my customers the option to avoid paying additional prices on materials by giving them the choice to pay for materials that I gather at the supply store over the phone. For example, A plumbing company will generally charge between 25-40 percent markup on the price of materials if they are not provided by the customer. This can get very expensive, especially when the company is providing a water heater that sells for $500 at Home Depot but charges the customer $750 dollars for the water heater itself on top of any other materiel needed and labor.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Over 30 years of experience in building houses/remodeling houses, working with contractors, inspectors etc. Over 9 years of experience in plumbing from my son ranging from residential service work to rough-end plumbing for new homes.
