The Cost is $100/hour, followed by NO FEE Coaching We start with an in-depth conversation to learn all about you, your dog, their history, and issues you are dealing with and where you need help. I create an Action Plan how we will work together for our lengthy in-person session. Dogs understand and learn in different ways. We teach your dog in the particular way he understands. Our session will last for several hours so I can work with you and your dog, all household members (who want to be involved) so everyone’s on the same page training the dog in the unique way he understands. We have On-going Coaching Calls - Check training progress - Refine the skills we covered in the session's Action Plan. - We will have Coaching as long as you need for you and your dog to learn the skills we covered. My training is short term due to the streamlined Plan. My methods are intuitive, based on the latest dog studies, and specific to your dog’s needs. In my extensive experience as a psychotherapist, I have found that psychological techniques are successfully transferable to working with dogs. I teach you to understand what your dog's behavior is saying to you. Your dog may need to be redirected with more exercise, or keeping busy to relieve boredom. By understanding WHY, you can determine how best to solve the problem if your dog is reacting negatively when fearful or anxious. We see what works for your individual dog. My training with countless families and their dogs is based on the latest research on animal behavior.

Excellent puppy trainer! I was finally able to learn how to calm my puppy down when she is too excited. She is very helpful, professional and responsive! It was great working with her. She knows a lot about dogs!

We have been very pleased working with Jane of Counseling Families with Dogs. We love her strategy of making training fun for our dog and reinforcing positive behavior with toys and treats in addition to establishing several techniques for us to use to distract our pooch from unwanted behavior. She also introduced us to holistic supplements for easing our dog’s anxiety, resulting in a subtle but effective response. Jane has a very different approach to dog training. My very high energy American Bulldog puppy needed to learn some manners, and I needed to learn how to get him to calm down. Jane helped me to understand what he would respond to, that he needed more physical and mental stimulation. She came with games that he loves and ideas that were different than other trainers, like him chasing me in the yard so he learns that he follows my lead, not the other way around. Jane does not only physical training, but interprets the dog and owner's personality to come up with a training plan that works for your specific circumstances. So far so good with Clyde becoming a more respectful and delightful member of the family. Thanks Jane!

Jane was excellent with my dog Tank, the natural oil she gave him helped him to relax and focus on the training. She also brought along plenty of treats for the training and a couple of games. I highly recommend her.

Jane did an excellent job with our dog , specially teaching us how to train her in a better way. Our dog is good with walking with the leash , seating and going down. However , she was not coming when we call her. Jane in the session was able to teach us how to work with her , the different kind of treats needed for every situation, and how to approach every part of the training. We worked inside the house, and outside in the park. Jane also works for the accomplishment and not for the time. She spent more than 2 hours working with us,, making sure we were ready to keep going before she left. She brought toys and materials for the training, and treats that work wonderful. Highly recommended. Thank you Jane for doing your job with passion and commitment.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Training is $150/hour. I offer puppy discounted packages and discounted behavioral packages. Sessions are 1-2 hours, most families choose 2 hours to accomplish our set goals. I am available for overnights $100/day. An exception is one hour for a puppy who often gets tired out. I find it most successful to teach pups in increments. I return again after pup has built a strong foundation having learned the first set of skills. After the first session we speak on the phone when needed and there is no charge for this; just want to fine tune the training. We work according to your dog's needs. It is not a set training course, but organic in that we deal with what is going on with the pup. This is short term training, usually one or two visits.

It is just as important that the pet parent develop a relationship before we even meet. Parents want to know and know that we will work on their concerns before we meet. I create an Action Plan how we will work together for our lengthy in-person session. Dogs understand and learn in different ways. We teach your dog in the particular way he understands. Parents are putting alot of faith and trust in me to in a short time teach them and pets what is needed to have a closer, knowlegeable relationship with their pet.
