FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Transparent pricing, no hidden fees. Ever. There are no additional, hidden or otherwise unmentioned fees in any of my quotations. Every client receives a contract with a clear and definitive statement of everything they will be charged for. Additional services are sometimes offered (like expanded licensing, printing, photo books, as examples), and are never executed without a follow-up discussion.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Understanding your needs is paramount to a successful outcome. I spend a lot of time understanding what a successful outcome means for you. For some, that's as simple as making them look their professional best, or providing a family portrait that will provide lasting memories. For larger projects, I work with you to develop a creative brief that guarantees clear expectations and deliverables.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
With more than 3 decades of media production experience, I've been lucky enough to have worked with some amazing talent on both sides of the lens. A profound shift in the focus of my work began several decades while volunteering at the Namgyal Monastery in Dharamsala, India, teaching the monks there to shoot, edit, and preserve the teachings of the Dalai Lama of Tibet. Through this experience, I discovered the power of video advocacy, which led me to form the non-profit Handheld Stories, providing communities facing critical social situations the tools to tell their own stories. In 2012 I received the Nikai Award for Excellence and Innovation in Education in 2012 for my work teaching at Dubai Men’s college from 2007-2013. Many of my former students now form the backbone of the country’s media and film production industries and have won numerous national and international awards. I was recently honored as the recipient of the 2018 U.S. Artist Grant and frequently provide talks and seminars on video advocacy and photography.
