Introduction: A New Day Therapeutic Services provides mental health and substance abuse services for the community of South Florida. Dan Schimmel, LCSW, CAP is an experienced psychotherapist who specializes in working with individuals dealing with issues related to substance abuse and mental health. A New Day Therapeutic was founded to assist individuals and their families to overcome alcoholism, addiction, co-occurring disorders, and the mental health challenges they sometimes face. The center's philosophy is based upon the concept of spirit, mind, and body rather than the medical model that focuses on pathology or the person's problems. Spirit, mind, and body is an approach which enables an individual to heal and advance in their recovery while dealing with their particular challenges. This means not only eliminating the undesired behavior/s or feeling/s, but also healing from the pain the experience has caused. Connecting to spirituality facilitates the healing and allows the state of surrender to begin. This therapeutic direction is Dan's specialty and has been proven effective in all service modalities offered.
