The 3 things I worried about when hiring a dog walker was having someone in my home when I'm away, reliability and that they care about my dog. Kim has given me peace of mind on all points and I highly recommend her.

We left our dog Max with Sylvia when we stayed in Daytona for a week. Max always had sitters come to the house so for my husband and I to leave him in someone else's home was a bit disconcerting for us. Long story short, Max learned to get along with another dog as well as a cat! She updated us during the week and made sure Max was comfortable and relaxed. We will definitely leave Max with this service on our trip back next year.

Kim is a true animal person. Our dog Bruno identified her as part of the pack immediately. She was able to respond to do a potty stop quickly and left a note telling us what she and Bruno had done. She even called to make sure we made it home safely. That was an unexpected bonus.

We hired Pookie Bros to look after our pets while we were on vacation for Christmas. I had the opportunity to work mostly with Scottie, and he was so great. He came by to meet our pets (2 cats, 1 dog) and get to know them before we went on our trip. He came twice a day while we were gone and took care of everything at one flat rate (dog walk, cat litter, feeding, even collecting the mail). He also (patiently) answered my many text messages inquiring about my furbabies while we were away, and even sent me some pictures. When we returned home, the animals were clearly well cared for and the house was in good shape as well. I would 100% recommend Pookie Bros to anyone - they have been at it for many years and you can tell they are really passionate about what they do. It's also a great value compared to other pet sitters in Orlando!!!

My family and I are new to owning a dog. We adopted a dog from the shelter and wanted to make sure we trained her correctly. K9 Connection is honestly the best dog training company I have been lucky to come across. The initial contact, they come to your house, analyze the dog, and how we work with our dog. They showed us how to control, walk, and enjoy our new family member. The price is perfect for one on one training, honestly don't be scared and think you can't afford this. I thought that and the value you get from training even if it is one session is priceless. They are professional and always on time. Highly recommend.

I’ve used Kara’s services multiple times now for dog walking and boarding. Her love for animals is obvious. Kara was very reassuring to me when I was nervous to leave her while I went away during the weekend. She sent me updates and photos and kept my four legged baby happy. I would definitely recommend Kara to anyone who needs pet care!

Tressie was wonderful with our two dogs! Being brand new ourselves to the Palm Coast area we were looking for a dog sitter and so glad we found Tressie. She took great care of both of our little guys and even went above and beyond for us. She even text us a photo while we were gone of the dogs playing away and having a wonderful time. We were having such a wonderful time ourselves our mini vacation and wanted to stay a bit longer. Tressie jumped right so we could have a little extra time and came back over with an extra walk so we could play a bit longer ourselves. I will certainly be using Tressie over and over again! We loved her and so did our two dogs!!

Norelle is amazing when she house/dog-sit for us!! I wouldn't trust many people with my house, let alone with my four-legged baby Isabella. After meeting her and she provided hydrotherapy for her, I knew she was truly a loving and trustworthy person. She would send me pictures where I could tell my baby was THRILLED she had come over to see her. She truly is a blessing and allows me to be at peace about leaving town when I need to.

Fantastic Experience with Amanda's Critter Sitters. We have 3 dogs and 3 cats that needed to be fed and let out over a long weekend away from home. Amanda was super friendly and did a great job at keeping us informed with photos throughout the time we were away. She is very relaxed and confident, which goes a long way in my book. Even though our dogs are super friendly, from the many photos sent to us - they acted like we werent even gone. 2 thumbs up for Amanda. I would not hesitate to use this service again.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

    • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
    • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
    • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
    • What are your different walk routes?
    • When will you pick up and drop off?
    • How will we communicate?
    • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
    • What’s your cancellation policy?
    • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
    • How and how often do I pay you?
    • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
