Super quality. This was a big project for us, installing landscape, stone and lighting, and Joseph stayed energized and focused on the best possible outcome. He and his crew worked fast when things went smoothly, and took their time when obstacles arose. I'll be hiring him again for future work.

I found Superior Landscape and Home Maintenance, LLC through a list I solicited from ThumbTack. I have hired different contractors over the years and had positive and negative experiences. Superior Landscape and Home Maintenance, LLC had a good overall rating with ThumbTack: That was a good start. The other contractors eliminated themselves based on 1-2 negative customer interactions; a lack of product information; or 0 customer reviews. Superior Landscape and Home Maintenance, LLC had none of these. I hired Superior Landscape and Home Maintenance, LLC to replace the red lava rock around my shrubs with white stone. Their representative arrived promptly ahead of appointment time. We discussed the project, and that was an easy sell. The representative did as expected explaining how the project would likely proceed and gave excellent explanations and advice on the other possible projects I asked about without zero selling of any kind. The representative emailed a proposal, and I reviewed and signed immediately as it was exactly what was discussed. The work crew came at the appointed time and finished within two workdays. Everything is done without a second thought or complication! Thank you, Superior Landscape and Home Maintenance, LLC! As with any company, this first call was a test: It went so well, I will be calling about other projects as needed. We will continue doing business into the future. Thank you!

I was ready to just pull everything up and put down shell or stone, I was so upset over many years going through different lawn management companies. My yard looked terrible, plants were suffering and the other companies would literally cut, blow and go cutting my grass down to dirt. John came in and rescued everything giving me several options. The value of my home has risen with landscaping and lawn care and I love my yard again. He is extremely knowledgeable in lawn and plant care for this region. He works with his crew, listens to what you want and explains what will work and what won't so you don't spend money foolishly. He has a strong morale work ethic. I am extremely happy and highly recommend him. Kris

We scheduled private meetings with three Tampa Bay landscaping companies and proposed the same dilemma to all. We have no idea what we want in our very large back yard other than a tropical setting. All three companies returned with a unique design, but only one stood out with the WOW factor. Aloha made it happen for the boss, wife and girlfriend; creative design, affordable project and delivered on time. From the trees to plants, stones to rocks, and fountains to lighting, Aloha lived up to their promise. We highly recommend Aloha and that is why we hired them for a second project - the front yard!

Earthworks not only done a fantastic job for me but, was one of the lower bidders to do my work. They removed an old stump, planted a 100 gal Silver Bismarck. They also found a Red Hot Hibiscus for me and planted it with new rock. I was so emprest with their work that I had them trim all the bushes around the entire house You could not beat the price and I could not praise them enough.

I had a stone wall built in my front yard and on the side of my house. Along with a walkway of combined stepping stones and river rock pebbles. I am so pleased with the work that was done. The job was completed on time, and in very professional manner.I would highly recommend this young man.

I got granite quotes from Home Depot and Lowes for my kitchen counter top. I went on line and saw this deal from KB factory outlet and thought it was "too good to be true" because the pricing, measured and installed was almost $1,000. Less than what I had been quoted. No extra hidden charges, just a flat price!! I went to their office/display room the following Saturday to check the deal out and was so pleased that I was able to SEE the exact piece of Granite that would be installed in my kitchen! They have a HUGE selection on display to choose from. My name was put on that exact slab!! Other places I checked, I would have to order the granite from a sample piece and HOPE the slab that was installed in my kitchen was close to what I picked out! We scheduled the measurement person to come out on a SATURDAY (because I work, this was a great plus) He measured, made a template of the counter top. We discussed the overhang for the eating bar and rounding the ends of the bar and allowance for my new sink. Installation was scheduled for the following SATURDAY. The crew arrived on time and I left for a meeting. I came home 3 hours later to a beautiful kitchen and NO MESS!! I love my kitchen!! I had a Birthday party a few weeks later and my friends love my kitchen counter tops too! Because I was so pleased, I went back for a remnant (they have a lot of pieces for Vanities or small counter tops) for my bathroom vanity!! The people there are SO friendly, and patient with your questions. I HIGHLY recommend Thomas and his staff for Granite, Marble, and any other stone items you need for your home!! You will NOT be disappointed! Visit their showroom and see for yourself.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How long does it take to install a hardwood floor?

Hardwood floor installation can take anywhere from a few days to more than two weeks, depending on demolition, wood type, the condition of your subfloor, total square footage of the project, and installation method. Demolition is necessary if you have existing flooring you want to replace with hardwood floors. New-construction homes do not require this step, as the subfloor is primed and ready for floor installation. During demolition, the flooring crew may find that your subfloor has damaged wood, uneven surfaces or other problems that must be addressed before the new wood can be laid down. Crews may charge on an hourly rate for subfloor repair, and the work can take a few hours to several days, depending on what’s hiding underneath your floor. The wood for your new floor generally arrives a few days before any work begins. This allows the wood to acclimate to the relative humidity in your house, which prevents it from shrinking or expanding after installation and causing gaps or buckling. The actual wood installation may take several days or more, depending on the size of your home and what type of custom cutting and designs are desired. If your flooring is not prefinished, the unfinished wood must then be sanded and stained in the home to treat and protect your new investment. Typically, stain takes a full day to dry, and multiple coats are applied. Baseboards and trim must also be installed. With all these variables at play, you can see why it’s important for a wood installation pro to provide an estimate only after seeing your home.

How much does it cost to install flooring?

On average, Thumbtack customers nationwide pay $5,500 for floor installation. The cost can range much lower or higher depending on the type of flooring you select (laminate is far less expensive than exotic hardwood), the square footage of the project, and other important variables like demolition and repair work needed. Here are some examples of average floor installation cost:

    • Basic floor installation cost: $3 per square foot (not including product).
      • This can range up to $7 or $8 per square foot when tear-out and prep work is required.
    • Laminate floor and installation cost: $3-$8 per square foot.
      • Laminate is one of the most affordable materials and can start as low as $1.50 per square foot.
    • Wood floor installation cost: $3 per square foot (not including product).
      • $7 and up for hand-scraped oak planks and other specialized work.
    • Luxury vinyl tile installation: $3.50+ per square foot (not including tiles).
      • Cost includes prep work, underlayment, leveling and grouting.
    • Examples of additional floor installation costs:
      • Pouring concrete to level the under-flooring: $1,000-$1,500 for materials and labor.
      • Removing carpet: 35 cents or more per square foot.
      • Removing difficult ceramic or porcelain tile: about $2.25 per square foot.
        • Includes removal of the dura rock.
    • Floor repair: $75 minimum.

How much does it cost to install hardwood floors?

The cost of hardwood floors will depend primarily on the total square footage of flooring, the type of wood you select, the cost of labor in your region, and any preparation or repair work that needs to take place before installation. Selecting exotic woods, such as teak, will result in a higher cost for the project than a more affordable wood such as oak. The national average cost of hardwood floor installation is $5,750. Here are some examples of different woods and their average costs; actual costs will vary depending on the factors listed above.

    • Basic wood floor installation: $3 per square foot from a wood floor installation company.
      • The product cost for hand-scraped ¾-inch oak planks: $7 per square foot.
    • 620 square feet of maple floor:
      • Residential installation, total project cost: ~ $2,400 with five days of labor.
      • ¾-inch dark stained maple installed on top of new concrete in three rooms, a hallways, and a staircase.
        • Cost for total project: ~$3.87 per square foot.

How much are oak hardwood floors?

Installing oak hardwood floors can add value and beauty to your home. The cost of hardwood floors is typically based on the overall square footage of your new floor, the type of oak you select, any repair work your subfloor requires prior to installation, and any demolition costs to remove your old flooring. Other factors that will affect your total cost can include the regional cost of labor and business overhead of your flooring company.

A flooring installation company may charge $3 per square foot for standard installation. For hand-scraped (higher-end) ¾-inch oak planks, the cost is approximately $7 per square foot, for a total cost per square foot of about $10 as long as no repair work is required. Standard oak planks are available from big-box stores for as low as $3 per square foot, so the quality of oak you want will affect your total project cost.
