Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Now that we are spending more time home and on Zoom, my customers are upgrading their environments for two reasons. The first is for functionality and the second reason is they want a personalized environment. From the start, we develop a design that fits you like a glove. I am a designer who has been drawing since I was 5 years old - car and house designs. It was fun. The project may start with a new layout and some new furniture and fixtures. Or it may start with a color consultation and ideas of how to make the space look wonderful and functional. All behind a mask and 6ft away or over FaceTime or Zoom. You may need new molding, reworking a fireplace, a custom piece of furniture, or even landscape design, I can make it all happen with reputable craftsmen. We listen and listen some more to create your specific interior. I do not push the latest trends, but beautiful interiors that last. We have been doing this work Nationwide for over 20 years. I work by the hour (after first consultation) and a small commission on the items purchased. We do not try to load you up with things, just great clean design, and finding your inner style is my job! After all, we need your recommendation to obtain other work. You will receive an electronic document that shows where you have spent your money and when for yours to keep for tax purposes (should you sell your home). Give us a general idea of what you want to do now and in the future and let's work together! It will be a fun process! We would like to work on your next project. Send us an e-mail or give us a call.! Thanks, Mark

I design looked beautiful but the design didn’t fit my need and wasn’t practical for daily living. I feel like the designer wasn’t transparent about the pricing. I was told that I will be billed in $500 increments and my first bill was $1,300. This was for a first draft of a single great room. This was the design only and didn’t include any items. Any revisions would be more money. The experience was a complete waste of my money as I didn’t use any of the design elements recommended. I wish I did a google search prior to hiring MWS Interior design and learned that others had the same issue. Also, he isn’t responsive. It takes him a week to reply to an e-mail.

Details: Full home design • Living room • Dining room • Bedroom(s) • Office space • 1,000 - 1,500 sq ft • Space planning / layout • Color palette / paint selection • Furniture selection • Window treatments selection • Accessories / art selection • Lighting selection • Flooring selection • Contemporary • Craftsman / Farmhouse • Midcentury Modern • My home, venue, etc.

MWS Interior Design's reply
You signed a contract and paid a deposit of $500. I did a rendering of the first floor of your new home and specified everything on the first floor and items for a second floor workout room in a spreadsheet. You spent a total of $1300. You and your husband were pleased with the 3D model and with all of the furniture and fixtures, paint, wallpaper and buildouts. Sorry that you feel responses were not timely. Not sure why you are writing this review six months after the fact on social media and not talking to me directly so I could accommodate you.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

$110 per pertinent hour and 5% commission over wholesale for items purchased. The hourly rate is for client meetings, sourcing, drawing, meetings with contractors. Not for invoicing and travel (within 25 miles). Pricing varies among projects - this is my RAC rate.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Ask questions and listen. Do you have photos of the spaces you want to change? What is wrong with the space(s) now and what would you like to accomplish? Is this your primary house? How many people live there? Pets? Favorite color? That type of discussion gets the ball rolling. Then, preliminary ideas are batted around to learn more about the customer and their lifestyle. The key is to listen and read between the lines. I develop a project scope and a spreadsheet budget. Then come the measurements and drawings for layout and for remodeling. Emailing design ideas and specific items for approval. Purchasing and remodel management is offered if a customer wants these services.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

LEED - I have been a LEED Accredited Professional for two years now. This is really important. For my commercial jobs it is required. Certification for residential jobs is coming. Healthy environments that also are more sustainable. I know about art - Art History and interiors of famous architects and designers. Classes in Furniture design, Fashion design and I have a Civil Engineering degree. I am also a Fine Arts Auctioneer. It all comes into play.
