Work quality was fine, but they were 1.5-2 hours late. Appreciated they came on a last minute request. The woman on the phone told me it would be $100 an hour, but once they arrived and realized we were in a position of need and timing, she said it would be $100/hour PER MOVER. Which is absolutely ridiculous and not at all market. Be aware when you book to specify the cost.

TLDR: The movers were very late. Almost 3 hours late, so factor that in to your hiring decision. On to the story: DDK contacted me minutes after my thumbtack submission about moving my recliner from one apartment to another. The DDK employee I spoke with at 1pm quoted me a price of $150 and says that the movers would be there at four pm (I get a bad feeling when I have to recite the pickup address several times). I show up at four, and wait. No one is there. Bad feeling increases. I send two texts and leave a message. I get a call at 430, the DDK employee tells me that their two movers are finishing up another job ahead of mine but will get to me after that. I ask when will the movers be there? The DDK employee tells me they don't want to give me a specific time because they don't know when they will finish up. Hmm. DDK employee says the movers will call me at some point when they are finished with their other job. The DDK employee has no contrition, no apologies. This is how they do business. At 610 pm (2 hours 10 mins late now) it's starting to get dark. I get a call and the DDK employee tells me they have a new set of movers who are rushing over (that was their exact words, they said "the movers are rushing over right now"). I get a call from a different guy who asks me where the address is for pickup. (Q: Why didn't the dispatcher provide their movers with the address I submitted through thumbtack, and also recited out loud five times over the phone? A: Your guess is as good as mine) The mover says "Okay I'm headed there now." I ask how long until you get here, the mover says "The GPS says it's 27 minutes away". Ah, so this is what "rushing over now" means. So the "movers" show up at 640pm (remember the quoted start time of 4pm?). Also, I put "movers" in quotes because instead of driving a moving truck, or a large empty van, the "movers" are driving a HVAC van on which was written Del-Aire Heating and Cooling. I'll point out that Del-Aire Heating and Cooling is not a moving company. My guess is that maybe DDK didn't have any other employees who would do the job they promised, and instead got one of their friends' cousins to use his work van to do the job, but your guess is as good as mine. I'll say it again: I hired the entity named "DDK movers" through Thumbtack, and DDK Movers ended up sending over people 2 hours and 40 minutes late in a van marked "Del Aire heating and Cooling". This was my experience. Next time I will look more thoroughly at the reviews on Thumbtack because I didn't get the sense thumbtack does a lot of vetting.

Didn't show up the day after he confirmed the night before with a text that 3 guys were coming. Didn't pick up text or phone calls the morning of. Could have just cancelled but didnt have the decency to do so. Had to find someone else last minute.
