Mauricio was FANTASTIC! Came prepared after late notice with a last minute corporate party we hosted here at the Homestead Marriott. He was charming and very open to all our song suggestions - and his rate is a deal! Don't think twice to hire him. He's the kind of person that you can also enjoy a quick dance with in between the song changes - what a great experience we had with him!

I came to Caryn to improve my tone and explore my range for personal reasons and working with her has been an enlightening experience thus far. She is extremely talented and an incredible teacher. I have learned so much from her and have improved tremendously in such a short period of time. I highly recommend her to anyone looking to pursue a professional music career or simply just for personal reasons like myself!

Seems nice and caring. I rated a 4 only because of language barrier via phone...was difficult to communicate my wants via phone. Overall, I'm looking forward to the event entertainment to be a success!

Danny H Magician was way way more than I expected. Very professional and his show was amazing. I had a kids event and he was able to capture and engage their young minds throughout his entire show. Before I booked him we had a quick conversation about specifics and he created a show for this young audience. I will definitely book again.

Last minute saviour! I decided to get a photo booth at the last minute for entertainment, thankfully I did because it was a hit with our guest. There was always a line of people at the photo booth, I didn't realize how popular it was. Thanks so much for your service!

They arrived on time and were set up on time. Both very nice and professional people - easy to work with. South Florida can be hard to navigate in finding honest professionals who offer cost effective event solutions, but I was so satisfied with Whereabout's services, that I booked them for our Halloween party which is still 7 months out. The kids and adults had a blast taking photos with all of the different props. I loved that they printed out two copies right there for us AND sent it to our cell phones for immediate upload to social media. I also loved how they custom designed our photo strips and were willing to work with us until we got exactly what we wanted. Highly recommend!

Ferra is a wonderful singer and also a very good guitarist. He is talented, professional and very pleasant to work with. Our corporate event on June 11th was enhanced with his beautiful music. Ricky brought the perfect mix of music to entertain my guests. I knew it was a good idea to integrate it into my party, but I did not know it was the best until my friends kept telling me how good it was. The music can go from the latest hits to rock classics that put all the people to sing If you are looking for a pleasant environment, have a good time, sing, and dance without excessive noise that overwhelm your neighbors. Ricky is the best option.

Dorian is not only amazingly talented, but he's also kind and professional. Make sure to take a minute to listen to his portfolio - it's very impressive, and it convinced me that I was making a good choice. I hired him to provide lunchtime entertainment for a two-day 300 person conference. He showed up well in advance of his booking. Afterwards, we received many compliments about his performance. We will definitely use him again!

I hired Dangerfun for my son's 6th birthday party. Ian's performance was excellent and met my expectation fully. He used a lot of audience volunteers so kept all kids engaged for the entire 30 minutes performance and kids never got bored! He was on time and all kids loved his show. Ian adjusted well with the venue even in my house or outside depending on the weather. I would recommend to hire him for any kids' related events and I will definitely contact him again for my any future events.

Far surpassed my expectations! I love my pictures, Sara was kind, very professional, had great ideas and took amazing pictures! I can't believe how many great shots she took! I didn't really know where to do the photoshoot, I just knew I wanted them outdoors and wanted our family dog in a few of the photos. Sara helped us pick the perfect location and was very flexible when it rained and we needed to reschedule twice! I'm recommending Massimo to all of my friends and finding other opportunities to use Massimo to capture important moments for my family. I highly recommend Massimo, you won't be disappointed!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

What is a photo booth rental?

A party photo booth is a fun, interactive experience where guests can take a series of photos (usually three or four) that are immediately printed out on a strip as a keepsake. When you rent a party photo booth, the company sets up the booth or photo station at your event; a photographer staffs the booth and coaches guests on how to use it throughout the event. Often the photo booth rental company provides props like silly hats, wigs and glasses. There are different types of party photo booth rentals. An open-air booth has a curtain or backdrop that allows more freedom of movement and enables more people to use it at one time. The traditional enclosed photo booths that you may have seen at the mall or the fair tend to cost more to rent, as they are harder to transport and also cost more for the pros to purchase. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

  • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
  • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
  • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.

How much is it to rent a photo booth for a party?

Renting a party photo booth for your next event will get your guests engaged and provide a take-home favor for attendees. The cost to rent a party photo booth will vary depending on the type of booth, the day and time of year, the length of the rental, and any add-ons you select. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500. Here are some examples of average party photo booth rental costs:

  • Weekday packages: $300-$550, depending on features included and length of rental. A three-hour weekday package for $500 could include guest book, personalized photo strips and DVD of all the photos.
  • Weekend packages: $450-$700, depending on features included and length of rental.
