Requested to have leaves removed. When that job was complete, they went on to adjust / repair my sprinkler system. I'm looking forward to them returning to mend a fence, lay sod, and take care of all my lawn care needs.

On March 17th, 2017, I was about to leave for 6 months for Australia and the week before I was due to leave my puppy discovered how to jump the fence behind our garage. We needed to get gates installed as a matter of urgency to block off the side and back of the garage so she couldnt get back there because she was going to be in the yard unsupervised a lot more once I left. We called several fencing companies and were told that to even get an estimate would take several weeks, even then the work wouldnt commence until mid-april. In desperation on March 15th I tried Thumbtack and Tony & Son's responded with 2 minutes..less than 10 minutes later we had an appointment scheduled for that evening and a promise that he would rearrange his jobs to get my job completed by Friday. Tony was unable to meet me that night by his partner Steve showed up and they started work on Thursday. They didn't finish the job by Friday as promised - but only because they had to do more than originally realized - the job was finished on Saturday. I couldn't be happier with a company, they were professional, honest, competent and most of all compassionate. I would recommend them to anyone and will definitely be using them again!!! I can't thank Tony, Steve and his crew enough for going above and beyond to ensure that our job was taken on and completed so that I could leave and know that my baby was going to be safe. They are awesome guys all round and the gates are perfect. I'd give you 10 stars if I could!! Jeni

I usually don’t write reviews, and have taken a while to complete this one, but I had such a great experience with FencedUp that I had to share it. If you are reading this, you are likely trying to go through the difficult process of finding a fence contractor. It is a tough process and I have been there. Hurricane Matthew blew down much the wood privacy fence at our home in Jax Beach and a downed tree took care of more of it; we needed a full replacement. The good news for us, and for you, is that Fenced Up is there to help. I vetted a few different fence companies when replacing our fence. David and crew at Fenced up was one of the most responsive fence companies I encountered in the process and also offered the best price for a quality fence (do your homework, not all fences are built the same). I had several questions and was able to get them all answered to my satisfaction during the bid process. Incredibly, things got better from there; when does that ever happen?! We wanted a complex wood privacy fence that included some design elements we came up with and David provided a tiered estimate with steps from basic to an all-out custom solution that included our requests and even improved them. This approach was helpful in comparing prices and making an informed decision, and I can tell you his pricing was also highly competitive on the simpler alternatives so he would have been a good choice for that as well. We settled on a custom-built horizontal wood fence and David offered a unique approach that used true one-inch thick lumber on five-foot centers that was all secured with three-inch ceramic coated screws (its strong and looks great). The result was an 8ft tall privacy fence that survived Hurricane Irma with ZERO WIND DAMAGE! A tree limb did fall and break a few of the decorative top slats on the top two feet of one section, but it was stopped cold by the stout horizontal primary fencing so our overall fence integrity was uncompromised after hours of high wind that took down several large trees nearby and would have wrecked our old fence. While many fence companies will only have installers on site, through FencedUp we benefitted from an incredibly talented and devoted trim carpenter, Steve, who executed some incredible details on our fence and designed everything to be pool and zoning compliant (each with its own requirements). Steve even customized a discreet removable panel to access our pool filter more easily. My father in-law is a retired general contractor that knows good carpentry. Steve’s craftsmanship impressed him, so much so that he plans to use FencedUp when he replaces his own fence. We also had a twelve-foot drive gate built with heavy twin six foot wide doors and no support wheels. Now, months later, the gate still functions flawlessly and swings open with one hand (that is no easy design feat). It was a big fence job with several customizations added along the way, so we had a lot of interaction with David and his crew and it was a very positive experience for us. I can tell you that on the last day it felt like saying goodbye to friends when they wrapped up the job! I know this review will sound too good to be true, but it was our actual experience. To be clear, I am not being paid for the review and was not promised a discount or other inducement to write it or post it. This is not to say there were no hiccups or challenges in the process, there always are! What was important though is that David was quick to own and correct any mistakes and he and Steve provided effective and well thought out solutions to the inevitable challenges that came up in the process and all this resulted in a great finished product. We ended up with a great custom fence that most contractors would not have even attempted to execute and all that at a great price! Not only would I use FencedUp for a future project, I cannot imagine using anyone else. P.S.- David also followed-up on the job twice to be sure everything was good and offered to make any corrections/adjustments that may be needed. Five stars! Thanks FencedUp!

I knew the minute that Jonathan came to my home to provide a quote that he was the contractor that I would choose. Sometimes you have a "gut" feeling! Well I did. And I was right on! He is a "Consummate Professional". Every other contractor that came out was only interested in "forming and pouring" concrete. Jonathan was more interested in providing the right solution for my very irregular terrain. He broke out a laser and ensured that he would be able to provide me the product I wanted for the price he quoted. In the end that is exactly what he did. In fact I had him do several other projects and I will have him back for another very large pole barn that I will be building in the very near future. I have had many, many contractors at my home in the last 6 months and NONE this good. If you are looking for any kind of concrete, paver tractor work, grading, block work, bulk head design and installation, stone or brick work, fire pits, landscape and garden additions, decks – look no further!!! Use Jonathan and TerraPros!! 2/10/2015 This is for the succeeding job that TerraPros did. TerraPro is amazing. I hired them previously and had them back to do extensive work on my very long driveway. Jonathan and TerraPros also did a large patio with crushed granite terrace, crushed granite walkways, a fire pit, sod, grading and some extensive landscaping. He is a consummate professional that knows his stuff. His concrete work is magnificent. I had a very large area that was multi-level and had tree roots that had to be maintained. Jonathan used a laser level and made sure that once the concrete was poured I would never have any issues with water drainage. No water ever comes near the house - even in the most severe rains the water sheds exactly as he had designed it. His landscaping design work matches what we were looking for on our property to a tee. I have several more very large jobs including a bulk head and a pole barn and Jonathan with TerraPros is my Go To man and company. His work ethic is beyond reproach. I will never use anyone else. If you are looking for a contractor for masonry, landscaping, carpentry you really should look no further.

Greg's quote was broken out into separate tasks with a cost attached to each task (existing fence removal and disposal; dig trench for footer; etc, etc). I liked that. The work went quite fast once it got started. Greg made sure that I was happy with the final product before asking for payment. I would definitely recommend Making Waves Pools to anyone needing block wall construction.

A 60 foot x 4 foot chain link fence removal. I appreciate their hard work in the two hours it took them to remove. Tra and his co-worker were very professional and I would most definitely call on them again. Try them out.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to install a wood fence?

Help define your property line, protect your home and yard, and boost your curb appeal with a new wood fence. The national average for wood fence installation cost is $3,250. Wood fence installation costs will vary based on your geographic location, the type of wood you select, the height and style of wood fence you desire, and the condition of your property. Pressure-treated pine is a common and attractive choice that is usually resilient against rot and bugs. Cedar is another budget-friendly option that, although more expensive than pressure-treated pine, can be more affordable than redwood or teak. A wood fence requires maintenance to ensure its long-term health and beauty, so keep future staining and painting costs in mind when you’re calculating fence installation costs. Here are some examples of how height and material affect the approximate cost of wood fences:

      • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $15-$17 per linear foot.
      • 4-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $13-$20 per linear foot.
      • Cedar fence: $18-$25 per linear foot.
      • 6-foot-high, double-sided (meaning both sides are uniform), pressure-treated pine fence with 6x6 posts: $25 per linear foot.
      • 12-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with custom detailing: $75 per linear foot.
      • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with a custom lattice top: $30-$50 per linear foot.

How much does it cost to install a fence gate?

Adding a gate to your fence can be a practical way to provide access to a yard, work area or outdoor living space while ensuring safety and privacy. Gate installation costs will vary based on the gate material you select, the size of your gate, whether you install a fence at the same time, and any special features you’d like to add. Standard opening size for a single-wide gate is 4 feet; a double-wide gate is 8 feet. A small gate may be for decoration; a double-wide gate can be mounted on a rolling caster system to allow access for cars or wide loads. Here are some examples of average fence gate installation costs:

      • 4-foot, single-swing chain-link gate: $100 for materials and installation costs.
      • 28-foot wheeled chain-link gate on a caster system: $800-$1,000 for materials and installation costs.
      • 4-foot, single-swing wood gate: $75.
      • 8-foot double-wide wood gate: $150.
      • 4-foot white vinyl walk-through gate: $300–$400 for materials and installation costs.
      • 8-foot, double-wide white vinyl gate: about $800 for materials and installation costs.
      • White vinyl gate fence more than 8 feet wide: $1,200-$1,500 for materials and installation.
      • Arched black powder-coated aluminum pool gates: $175-$200 per gate.
