Simply can't say enough good things about Amanda and her team! Amanda helped us plan our wedding from the very beginning and we couldn't have done it without her. We were worried that our dream venues were out of our budget, but she got us great vendor quotes, crunched the numbers and showed us it was within our reach. Without her we wouldn't have had our dream wedding at the Lightner Muesem courtyard and White Room reception. Almost every vendor Amanda recommended did an amazing job! We especially loved the dessert bar from Alley Cakes Bakery. We were able to offer a wide array of delicious desserts that doubled as decor. The only vendor I was disappointed with was the travel agent. She would go weeks without responding to emails and didn't get us a very good discount on our hotel block. In addition to making sure we stayed on track with our timeline and budget, Simply Weddings also took on the large task of our flowers and decor. Amanda made gorgeous table runners to complement our centerpieces and tie in our watercolor theme. On the wedding day, Amanda and Karla handled everything from set up to break down and any last-minute problems in between. For example, due to bad traffic on the interstate our ceremony chairs didn't make it in time. Amanda made sure our guests were happy standing during our short ceremony and got us a full refund. It was important to me that we weren't stressed out on the wedding day. Amanda took care of everything so we were able to enjoy the beautiful day with our family and friends. After the wedding, Simply Weddings arranged for our leftover flowers to be donated to a local retirement community. We loved that our flowers didn't go to waste while we were on our honeymoon. Would highly recommend Simply Weddings by Amanda to anyone who is planning a large event!

My father ran into Dan at a carnival he was very impressed with his set up. And hired him for my wedding . He made everything so easy . Also has a very helpful convienant website with a gig builder on it for everything you need for your event. Also the time line made the wedding so perfect for all the vendors . For anything I couldn't decide what I wanted for certain pieces of the wedding he found music I absolutely loved . I was so pleased how it all turned out, as the wedding grew closer I did not have a wedding event planner I was worried about keeping track of everything that was going on with the wedding that's when Dan suggested his wife crystal be a day planner to keep everything on track , which she has done before . She did a phenomenal job . Everything ran so smooth and everything went perfect . For the amount of money charged we felt we got such a good deal . The day of the wedding was perfect between the two of them everything was on time all the evened went flawlessly and turned out to be a beautiful day . Thank you so much Dan and crystal me and Ryan couldn't have done with without you . I would highly recommend everyone who has a upcoming wedding ;)

Kimber was absolutely incredible! Her skills are just as seen in photos but the best part is her friendly demeanor! The only thing I regret about hiring her and her team for my wedding hair and makeup is that I didn't meet her early enough to have her also be my wedding planner! Every detail covered with ease! Love my experience!

Jessica contacted me through a thumbtack request and out of all the people that reached out to provide their services, she was the most genuine and helpful. I explained to her that we had a limited budget for my sister's wedding and she suggested we spoke so we could come up with alternatives. Jessica drove from Jacksonville to Gainesville to meet with us! Jessica is extremely professional and responsible and such a wonderful planner. I used to be a wedding planner and Jessica exceeded my expectations. She created all of the flower arrangements for the wedding and even created some we didn't ask for so she could decorate other areas. Jessica also brought her own supplies to use as decorations, including piping and draping for behind the sweetheart table, toasting flutes for the bride and groom, among other things. My family and I are very grateful for Jessica and her team. We can't thank her enough. The planning process was sooooo easy with her, I never had to remind her about anything, she was always on top of everything. The wedding day went without a hitch and we were able to enjoy getting ready and partying the night away! Thank you Jessica and also to your super sweet assistant!

We can’t begin to describe how great Kallie was in helping to plan our wedding. We live in California but wanted to get married near our families in Florida. Planning a wedding on the opposite coast is a challenge to say the least, but Kallie and Marla made sure everything looked and ran perfectly - from helping us find the perfect venue, decorations, food, etc to keeping everything running smoothly and on time on the big day. Without their help, we never would have been able to have such a special (and stress free) day.

Lynne was great! Me an my sister decided we were going to plan my wedding ourselves after about a 3 months of planning we decided that we were in way over our heads. Lynne came in and gave me great advice, provided me with the exact vendors I was looking for and did not get mad when I called her at 11pm to ask questions. I would recommend her to anyone! Nikki May not only planned my wedding, she also took the time to help with putting it all together. The wedding was far more spectacular than I ever imagined! I wanted a vintage wedding with some special moments added for me and my groom, She made sure that all of our request were granted. We felt so special, with the attention we received, and could not wait for our special day to come. Nikki made sure our day was beautiful and exactly what we wanted. Spent endless hours trying to save on cost and plan my event myself and, I kept stressing myself and my friends out trying to plan. Well that didn't last long, with endless hours on the phone and price quotes and being out of my realm of expertise, I folded and called around to shop for a event planner. Not only did Mr. Dyess save me money, he saved me time!!! I talked to several event planners before I made the best decision of my life, and chose Dyess Event Productions!! I cant thank them enough for their creativity and professionalism!! I have great admiration for the skills that they had in negotiating my events through caters, florists, they did it all. One stop shop with one phone call. With ease they pulled off the unimaginable and made my daughters sweet sixteen more than a moment, they made it a memory of a lifetime for everyone who attended!! I plan on using them for all of my events.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a wedding event coordinator do?

Pulling off a large, complex wedding or an elegant, small affair requires juggling myriad details, including the officiant, food, drink, wedding cake, entertainment, transportation, rehearsal dinner, photography, equipment rentals, venue reservations and more. A wedding event coordinator can help you keep track of these details, overseeing the planning process and managing everything on the day of your wedding. Each wedding coordinator (and wedding) is different, but in general you can expect an event coordinator to:

    • Help you devise a realistic wedding budget and hold your vendors to it.
    • Map out a master plan that includes all of the details including ceremony music, favors, the guest book and more.
    • Suggest ceremony and reception locations that fit your wedding size, budget and vision.
    • Suggest florists, photographers, bands, caterers and other vendors that fit your budget.
    • Negotiate vendor contracts for the best deals.
    • Create a timeline for the day of the wedding that includes each vendor and member of your wedding party.
    • Mail invitations and track RSVPs.
    • Answer questions about wedding etiquette and current wedding trends.
    • Manage the wedding day from supervising vendors and setup to handling last-minute emergencies.

    What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How much do day-of wedding coordinators cost?

A day-of wedding coordinator makes sure that every detail of your wedding day goes off without a hitch, and deals quickly and quietly with any last-minute emergencies. For many brides, the day-of wedding coordinator is their best investment! The average national cost for a wedding coordinator is $800 to $1,000. Although full-service wedding coordinators often charge a percentage of the total wedding budget, most day-of coordinators charge a flat fee plus an additional hourly fee if the day runs long. For example, a 15-hour day-of coordination costs an average of $600, plus an additional $45 per hour if the coordinator works more than the planned 15 hours. Another option is to hire a coordinator to manage the last-minute details leading up to the event; for example, 25 hours of month-of coordination costs an average of $1,200. Several factors affect the cost of day-of coordination, including the region, the planner’s experience, and the specifics of the wedding. If the ceremony and reception are in two different locations, expect to pay more than if they’re in the same place. Also, extra details, such as managing food trucks or setting up snacks in addition to the meal, will increase the cost.

What should you ask a wedding coordinator?

When you hire a wedding coordinator, you want to make sure he or she gets you and can execute perfectly your vision of your dream wedding. To find the very best fit, it’s important to ask these five questions:

    • Are you available on my wedding date? If the coordinator isn’t available on your big day, there’s no reason to continue the interview — unless you’re willing to shift your date to accommodate their schedule.
    • What’s average cost of most of your weddings? If the coordinator’s usual wedding is outside your range, they might not be the right coordinator for you. Ask whether the coordinator requires a minimum wedding budget. In general, the wedding coordinator’s fee should be about 15 percent of your budget.
    • What is your speciality? Some coordinators specialize in day-of coordination, some create the overall vision, and others act as a producer. Make sure your wedding coordinator provides the type of services that will most help you create the event you have in mind, such as selecting vendors and handling their contracts, or managing the guest list and invitations.
    • What are your ideas for fulfilling our wedding vision? After you describe your dream wedding — rustic or sophisticated, traditional or funky — the wedding coordinator should be able to suggest appropriate venues, menus, decorations, etc..

Do you have a portfolio? Ask to see photos of their favorite weddings, especially if they’ve managed any that are similar to what you have in mind. This will help you see if you like their style and if their ideas seem fresh and creative.

Do I need a wedding day coordinator?

Even if you’ve handled every detail of planning your wedding, you might appreciate having a day-of wedding coordinator in your corner. Usually, the coordinator meets with you a few weeks before your wedding to put together a detailed timeline of everything that needs to happen on your wedding day. Then, on the big day, the coordinator makes sure everything goes according to plan — and handles any emergencies that pop up, such as party crashers, missing tuxedos, late vendors, disappearing bridal party members and more. Most wedding coordinators also handle:

    • Distributing the wedding day timeline to all of your vendors.
    • Coordinating all of your vendors, including the photographer, florist and baker.
    • Conducting the wedding rehearsal.
    • Helping the bride and her wedding party get dressed and take photos.
    • Checking floor plans, lighting levels, cake placement, menus, favors and more.
    • Collecting the wedding gifts and keeping personal items safe and accounted for.

Even if you don’t think you need a wedding coordinator, check with your venue. Some require that couples hire a day-of wedding coordinator for the day of the event.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
