I have been taking piano lessons from Kelly for the last three years and I am deeply impressed with her enthusiasm for teaching how to play the piano. She is fully committed to the correct piano technique and as well as playing musically. As a piano teacher, she not only possesses a strong background in piano education but has a lot of experience with teaching to both adults and children. When it comes to her teaching style, she is a perfectionist. She will go the extra mile to make sure that her student picks up the right playing habits early in the process. As a teacher, she is courteous, reliable and has a professional stance. If you are serious about learning how to play the piano, Kelly being your piano teacher may make all the difference. TJ

What an inspiration! I took lessons as a child (long time ago!) and learned some of the basics, became overwhelmed and quit. Now, as a mature adult, I’ve decided to return to the piano to continue to learn. I’m so glad I found Kelly! I started taking lessons with her about a year ago, and immediately, some serious weaknesses in my playing revealed themselves: hand and finger position, wrist movement, note reading…. just to name some. Kelly’s response has been consistently patient and encouraging. Whether I need gentle acceptance of “where I am” or firmer motivation to break through and rise to a higher challenge, Kelly tailors her lessons to suit me. Kelly Walsh is a patient and talented piano teacher whose love and appreciation for music is obvious and contagious. I highly recommend her.

Our family has had the pleasure of working with Miss Kelly for the past three years. She has become a very special part of our lives. My son (9 years) and my daughter (6 years) have received outstanding instruction from her and have both made tremendous gains in the areas of music and piano. Miss Kelly is extremely caring and positive, and relates well with my kids. She is professional, organized, and well-prepared for their lessons. Miss Kelly offers her students fun and familiar, yet challenging pieces to learn and offers choices so that they feel they play an important role in their success. We love attending our private lessons in her studio which is quiet, clean and conducive to learning. My kids always look forward to going and argue over who gets to see her first! Miss Kelly has a beautiful spring recital every year at a local country club that all of her students are invited to participate in. My kids love being a part of it and getting the opportunity to show off and play for an audience. We feel so lucky to have found Miss Kelly and have been pleased with her both professionally and personally. She is very special...one of a kind! Juli Sheehan

My nine year old daughter C and I took piano lessons from Kelly for a year. We would have stayed with her indefinitely had she not moved away. I think Kelly is a wonderful teacher for children and for adults. In my opinion, she individualizes her approach to each student. Kelly is kind but firm; patient but has expectations! She is the consummate teacher. C had taken three years of piano prior to her year with Kelly. While she could play her assigned pieces quite well (with practice), her music reading was not where it should have been after 3 years of classes. Under Kelly's tutelage (she has her own method on how to teach children to read music), however, I would say that she has caught up quite well. I was deeply pleased to see that Kelly sets the bar high. And, my child rose to the challenge. Kelly uses the lesson time very well. Her lessons include a wide diversity of skill development through the usual collection of level appropriate performance and practice books. But, she augments her teaching by having the student also work on a more challenging contemporary or classical music piece of their choice, a jazzy piece, some chords and scales, and some theory. C's repertoire of music she can play grew very much this past year. For adults, her approach is widely different. Since most adults take piano classes for the pure joy of playing it, she taps into that passion. Her demeanor is very encouraging and extremely patient. Again, she listens and observes and finds music that the student will be incentivized to invest the time and effort into. For example, I love Jules Massenet's Mediation de Thais. However, arrangements of this music are well over my level of music accomplishment. Kelly "pulled out" a version of this music that she had arranged and while, still difficult, was well within my grasp. In closing, besides being a wonderful teacher, Kelly is also a gifted piano player. C and I have enjoyed every lesson we had with her and wish her well on her move.

I took piano lessons as a child and had a very strict and rigid teacher. Because of that, I didn't really enjoy playing. I didn't play at all for several decades until last year when I decided to give it another try. I found the best teacher in Kelly. From lesson one, I knew that this experience would be different and positive. I actually enjoy playing the piano now! What a difference a teacher makes. Kelly is patient, caring, knowledgeable, and professional. She is encouraging, and I always felt that she wanted me to succeed. She plays like an angel and gave me inspiration every time I heard her play. In only one short year, I have come a long way and am so pleased with my progress! I wholeheartedly recommend Kelly to teach piano to adults and children alike. I wish she wasn't moving!!!
