My daughter ran a chair into a corner of drywall. Allen came an hour later, patched, retexturing and fixed our toilet, too. Awesome service and done quickly!

Ennio is very good and reliable. He installed two motion sensors outside, a new shower head; chandelier with dimmer switch, and curtain rod. He explains what he did and how to operate everything. He cleans up everything and leaves the area spotless. Will hire him again for other projects.

Although the finished work is acceptable it was not exceptional. The worker (who was not the owner) did leave drywall dust everywhere, washed the drywall mud out in our front lawn which has a deep slope causing the drywall mud to wash down onto our driveway (see photo). This could've easily been avoided by simply washing it out in the back yard. The work itself: The wall is not completely smooth where an old intercom was removed. Lastly, we requested an estimate on having mirrors removed from our living room which, unfortunately, never came. Overall satisfactory work but doubtful we would use again. The rating for the owner would be a Good rating but for the work and worker...Average. In all fairness, we have not contacted the owner (who did not do the work) because we have been swamped busy and don't think anything could have been done to remedy the situation. I cleaned up myself and we are just more mindful of all aspects of contracted jobs for the future. A definite learning experience. .

José did an amazing job at our store! We had an extremely long list for him, and he was able to complete it all. Very honest, reasonable price, and an overall good person. He’s very talented from electrical, to drywall, painting, you name it! Certainly using him again for future work.

Ariel and his guys did a great job taking out a wall in my master bathroom. They arrived exactly when they said they would and finished the job in one day as promised. They stayed until 7pm to make sure it was done! Only reason I only gave 4 stars is because they moved some switches that were on the wall they took down, and they switched around the way I wanted them. Nothing I can't handle myself, other then that the drywall looks great and they did an excellent job texturing the walls!

We had a great experience using John. We hired him to make some repairs to areas leaking in our bathroom. He regrouted and sealed our shower and tub, and even replaced a damaged tile. He also completed some drywall repairs to our damaged kitchen ceiling which was leaking from the damaged areas in the bathroom. He was quick and very flexible with our schedules ,and even came back a couple of extra days to make sure the job was completed properly. He also did some extra work for us when asked at a reasonable price. We will definitely be calling him again for future handyman services needed around the house.

William and his co-worker did a fine job. I needed some drywall repaired in a couple rooms and they responded to me almost immediately after posting. They came the same day and solved my problems quickly so I could move forward with larger projects.

Lou did an excellent job on my repairs. He responded with any questions I had immediately. He went out of his way to save me money, not trying to upsell me or charge for costly replacements that weren't necessary. His work was great, he cleaned everything up and I could not be happier. He did drywall repair, replaced a garbage disposal and faucet, and fixed a light. He even rescued two lizards from my house from facing certain doom with the dog - he's a friend to nature! I will definitely call Cordero Services in the future for help with household repairs.

Boscana installed my above range microwave at a fraction of the price of home depot or lowes, and it was a relatively complex install since the new microwave was larger than the old one. Work was completed quickly and the end product looks great.

Excellent!!! David was great. Numerous projects were completed sooner than expected and on short notice (painting, replace ceiling drywall, roof repair, etc). He was willing and able to take on additional unexpected projects and exceeded expectations. I would definitely recommend Elite Remodeling as well as use their services again.

My wife and I were looking for a company to remove the popcorn ceiling on a house we closed on the 21st. Called Sylvester the 21st and he was able to come out the following day to get a better look at the project. We agreed on a very reasonable price and he actually wanted to begin the same day on the 22nd. By the 24th the popcorn was removed, knock down put up, painted and house looked just as clean as it did before he started work. I would highly recommend working with Sylvester and will reach out to him in the future for anymore jobs I may need done! He understood our situation and urgency of wanting to get job done as soon as possible given we are staying at the in laws. Was pleasantly surprised and pleased by the fact he asked if he could begin working the same day he came out to check on project! Do yourselves a favor and hire Sylvester for any drywall work that may need to be done!

They did everything I asked of them and very quickly. Kept everything covered and cleaned up after themselves. Came to estimate job and finished within a week. Needed a contractor that could deal with not just common drywall construction but also plaster due to the age of the home.

Had a small drywall repair project. Due to a humid morning trying to do the work, the repair took longer than expected with mud not setting-up. Dan didn't complain that the job took longer then expected. When it was taking much longer than expected, he offered to come back a second time to finish up. No complaints about the multiple trips or that my quick project ended up taking twice as long. The drywall patches look very good and blend in well. The price was very reasonable - much more reasonable then other drywall repair specialists.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much will it cost to fix a hole in the wall?

If you have a hole in your wall, don’t despair; drywall repair professionals can patch the hole and repaint the surface and no one will be the wiser. The cost to repair a drywall hole depends on the size of the surface area of the damage, the materials and labor required, and (for a minor repair) any minimum service fee the repair company may charge. The actual labor and drywall prices may be lower than the minimum service fee, but pros must ensure their business overhead costs are met when they go out on minor jobs. To help keep costs low once the pros get there, make sure you have the right paint on hand if you want them to do to a touch up after the repair is complete, so you don’t keep them wait (and charging you for their time) while you search in the garage. Here are two examples of average prices for smaller drywall repair jobs:

    • Approximate cost to repair a 5-foot crack in a wall: $125 (labor $75 and materials $50).
    • Approximate cost to repair a 3-foot ceiling crack: $150.

What is the difference between sheetrock and drywall?

People sometimes use the terms “sheetrock” and “drywall” interchangeably, but they are not exactly the same. Drywall is the industry term for prefabricated sheets of wall, while Sheetrock is the brand name of a type of drywall. Depending on what room is being built, your drywall installation pro will select different thicknesses or grades of drywall. Standard residential drywall is ½-inch thick. Garage walls adjacent to a living space are typically ⅝-inch thick and serve as a firewall. For a garage ceiling, most contractors will use firewall-grade drywall materials to keep your home as safe as possible.

Different types of drywall can be color-coded to indicate their purpose. Purple or green drywall boards are often mold-resistant (MR) and are applied where moisture tends to accumulate, such as in bathrooms and basements or behind tile backsplashes at sinks. These mold-resistant sheets have a fiberglass instead of a paper facing finish to prevent water absorption. Regular drywall is gray or white. The drywall industry is constantly adapting with technology to provide safer and more targeted materials. You can even install soundproofing drywall to help prevent noise transfer through rooms.

How much does it cost to put up drywall?

The national average cost to hire a drywall installation professional ranges $375-$1,500, depending on the job at hand and where you are in the country. Your drywall installation cost will often be lower if the professional is installing the drywall in a new construction with open access as opposed to a remodel. The square footage of the job, the amount of materials, and the labor required also determine drywall prices. According to drywall pros, materials costs can range from 15 percent to 50 percent of your total project cost, depending on the work you’re having done. Request several quotes from drywall installation companies to find the right fit for your construction project. The quotes may be based on the company’s standard cost per square foot or a calculation of the time estimated to complete the job plus the size of the job plus materials and any travel fees. For example, drywall installation for one or two standard-size rooms could cost $900-$1,500. The cost to hang and tape an outbuilding with approximately 40 drywall sheets at 75 cents per square foot could total $1,450, including 3.75 days of labor for the drywall crew.

How much does it cost to repair drywall?

The national average price range to repair drywall is $210-$300. Drywall prices can vary greatly depending on the size of the hole or crack that needs repair, the amount of materials required, and other factors. Cracks can appear at the seams in your drywall due to uncontrollable factors like your house settling or even minor earthquakes. Drywall, although sturdy, will break with enough impact, so if a dresser falls and crashes into a wall or your have a mishap hammering in nails for artwork, you could need drywall repair. Drywall repair professionals may have a minimum service fee of $100-$150 regardless of the size of the job. This ensures that their business expenses are met anytime they send their crew out to a job. Here are some additional examples of average drywall repair prices:

    • Sand and texture five wall patches: $200 (45 minutes of labor and $40 of materials).
    • Repair a 4x8 section of wall: $225 (labor $150 and materials $75).
    • Replace drywall in an entire bedroom: $1,500 (price varies depending on the number of windows, whether there’s metal trim, etc.).
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
