With a 1.5 year old labradoodle, and and a 1 year old goldendoodle, we were looking to improve their puppy manners when greeting people as well as the behavior on the leash. We took "Polite pups" and "No more pulling." We had 4 sessions in the home with Jessica at a reasonable price. We had previously taken a group puppy class somewhere else, but it made a huge difference having training in the home with individualized attention to each dog. Jessica tuned us into some of their behaviors and personalities. She focuses her teaching strategy on the individual dog, and what seems to be best for each one. The dogs made great strides over the four weeks, and we finished with knowledge and tools to continue to further train our dogs. Jessica is very knowledgable and easy to contact. We would highly recommend her for dog training!

We wanted to let you know how great our dog Emma, an eight month old lab/hound mix, is doing since she went through your in home obedience sessions, No More Pulling & Polite Pups. Before you started training her, Emma was impossible to walk with on a leash. She was out of control and constantly pulling and easily distracted. Since she completed the sessions with you she is a pleasure to walk. After following your methods she is totally in control, is always by our side and is not distracted by things she would normally be distracted by like other dogs and squirrels. The Polite Pups sessions were equally successful. Before the sessions she jumped up on us and anyone who entered our home. She now greets us and our guests by sitting in place and not jumping all over. You solved the two biggest problems with Emma. Jessica, your training philosophy and methods are excellent and really work. Furthermore, you are a very nice and patient person. These are qualities we believe are essential to being a successful dog trainer. We highly recommend your services. We will miss you very much in Delaware and wish you much luck and happiness in Florida. We know you will be as successful there as you were here. Come by and visit Emma anytime you are back in Delaware.

Domino was a new addition to our family. We loved him very much but he was very strong willed and didn’t always obey. He was testing our patience. We needed help. Jessica listened to our concerns and took the time to learn about Domino. More importantly, Jessica educated the entire family. Part of the struggle with getting Domino to obey was our lack of understanding why he reacted to certain situations. Jessica taught us not only how to train Domino but also about the breed’s tendencies. Domino loved Jessica from the first session. She shows great love, care and commitment to the success of her weekly program. In a very short time, Domino was learning the basic commands. We are very pleased with the outcome of Domino’s training and would recommend Jessica without a doubt!

I have a 4 year old Dutch Shepherd Roscoe who has having some jealously issues when my sister moved in temporarily. His breed is very protective and used primarily as law enforcement and military working dogs. I never had any aggression issues with him but he began to test the waters with my sister. I never attended any formal training with Roscoe because I honestly thought I would be wasting my time thinking that most trainers in my area would not be used to or comfortable with such a high drive working breed. Browsing though the local paper I came across Jesss picture on the cover with a Dutch Shepherd to my surprise! I was excited to see that a local dog trainer owned and trained her own Dutch. This breed is not for the weak hearted or anyone not willing to be the alpha. Having dominance issues with my sister and Jess being a female who was successful at training this breed I knew I found my solution. I scheduled a session with Jess and had my sister attend. Roscoe typically goes berserk when someone knocks at the door which he did as usual when Jess arrived. I let her in and she immediately distracted him and had him obeying commands within seconds of entering the house. I noticed her observing his behavior and interaction with everyone present. She came up with rules and activities to imply based on her observations to squash the dominance issues. We implemented them and all is well! I have since done tracking training with Jess and continue to work with him. She gave me the tools I needed and I was sad to see her leave Delaware, however she continues to check in and get updates on our progress. Even though we are hundreds of miles away I will always continue to use her as a resource. I highly recommend her to anyone. Get Set has such a broad skill set and training knowledge and I highly recommend them to anyone regardless if you are having problems, need obedience training or competition

Jessica worked with our dog, Isis, and us in her 6-week set of private lessons. We rescued Isis from our local humane association as a 4-year old dog who was picked up as a
stray. After about a month of time with Isis in our home, we noticed some issues which we hoped to address through training. Foremost in our minds were anxieties that we noticed
in Isis. She had separation anxiety when we left the apartment, as well as irrational fears of new objects both in and outside of our apartment. We also wanted to learn better ways to communicate with her so that she could be comfortable in her environment.
Jessica came in and tailored our course to our needs specifically. From the moment she came to our apartment, she began asking questions about Isis and how we wished to interact with her. She really worked to try and make sure that she was addressing the specific needs that we saw in our day-to-day interactions with Isis. Each and every time Jessica came back for lessons, she began by asking us how the last week had gone and inquiring what type of progress had been made.
Training began with simple maneuvers that were easy for us to manage with Isis sit, lay down, and touch. As the lessons progressed, we moved to more difficult tasks for Isis, as well as for us. In each and every lesson, Jessica was able to interact with Isis directly and helped us to understand some of the behaviors that Isis was exhibiting during training.
Fear and stubbornness were big issues for Isis, which Jessica informed us were some of the hardest things to train through. But through patience and persistence with Isis, we were able to work through many of her fears and develop a useful relationship with her. We continue training with Isis to this day as a way of distracting her from her fears, as well as interacting and playing with her in a way that she thoroughly enjoys.
We cannot say enough about what a positive influence Jessica has been for us and our relationship with Isis. She explained her training every step of the way so that we could continue it on our own. She was very positive in her interaction with us and Isis and helped us to build a way to communicate with our dog. We highly recommend her to anyone who is interested in her and her services.
