Andrew was my band leader for a combo class at Frost School of Music, University of Miami. After we’d play any tune he have us all listen to the original together and talk about it. He introduced a lot of great music to us during class and valued the significance of truly knowing where jazz comes from. He gave us assignments of transcriptions and writing contrafacts all of which are beneficial to a developing musician. Andrew Peel is both encouraging and realistic and definitely qualified and a great person.

Working with Dr. Peal has definitely helped me keep in shape on my instrument and has built my confidence in many skills like soloing, sightreading, and overall musicality. But as well, I have always felt encouraged to ask any questions that come to mind and from that I have always left a lesson with a new perspective of the music language.

Andrew Peal was an incredible educator and musician to work with throughout my first semester in college. From the classroom to emails and outside of class assistance, Peal was extremely helpful for learning about music theory, improvisation, performing different styles of jazz, and understanding the music industry. Andrew is an exceptional teacher. My son was just beginning trombone when he took lessons from Andrew. Andrew was very patient and knowledgeable, and created lessons that coordinated with my son's abilities. I feel that my son progressed greatly under Andrew's tutelage. I wish we still lived in the same area as Andrew so we could continue with him.

My pricing is competitive with professionals in the area. The base pay is $50/hour (per student to teach) and $100/hr to perform (per musician.)
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to learn about my student the first lesson and develop trust. We also start with fundamental exercises to immediately improve technique.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned a Bachelor degree in Music Education and I am K-12 Certified. I also earned a Masters degree and have been teaching for about 6 years.
