I called Greg to look at my washing machine that would only work on one cycle. He priced the part and labor cost for me and compared it to getting a new washer. He also gave me good tips on what to look for with the new washers. I Am checking out new washer see before making a decision whether or not to repair this one. Greg is very professional, knowledgeable, and honest about repairs needed. He was pleasant and a gentleman. I would definitely call him again for an appliance repair.

Dale came out to look at my refrigerator and advised me that it was no longer in working condition. Dale did not charge a "trip" fee as a previous home repair service did. I resect his honesty. He was also on time, and knowledgeable.

Gary did an outstanding job for us. He arrived as scheduled and worked rapidly but carefully. He fixed some plumbing problems, did a bit of painting, checked out two of our ceiling fans, and spent the bulk of his time putting together two outdoor bistro tables for us. These tables came in boxes with many parts and unclear directions, and he did a fantastic job. I would recommend Gary without reservation to anybody who needs handyman work done.

The icemaker needed to be replaced. John came last week, right on time, checked things out and called me that day with the price. He called me this morning (5-9), said the part was in, and he could come today between 10 & l2 and fix it. He was right on time again and very soon had things working again. He was very friendly, the work went well, and quickly. The final price was just what he said it would be. And, just as important, he liked the dog! I would not hesitate to call Appliance Doctors again if any of our appliances needed fixing. Thanks for a great job.

03/24/12 Recently, we hired Your Right Hand LLC to do extensive remodeling and repair work in our condo at Fort Myers, Florida. The work included: * Replacing 1200 sq ft of carpeting with wood flooring. * Painting the entire condo. * Replacing 7 ceiling fans. * Installing 7 smoke detectors. * Installing floor tiles in the foyer, kitchen, utility room, 2 bathrooms & lanai. * Remodeling the master bath. * Replacing all blinds and blind curtains. * Remodeling kitchen lighting. * Electrical & plumbing repairs and changes. The job was completed expeditiously in 3 weeks. Normally, jobs involving carpet removal, installing wood flooring and tile are candidates for creating a mess in a home. The staff on this project made every effort to clean up the work area at the end of each day. We found them to be meticulous experts with pride in their work. They were also very friendly and went beyond the scope of their job to help us (2 retired people) discard and move furniture and carpeting. If you are looking for quality and efficiency at an attractive price we suggest you consider using Your Right Hand LLC to do the job. Joyce & John Paciga

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

      • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
      • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
      • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

      How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
