Introduction: Mr. & Mrs. Fleck both received Bachelor of Music degrees plus one year's study toward their Masters (on full fellowship) at the renowned Eastman School of Music, Rochester, NY and both received the coveted Performers Certificate from that institution. Mrs. Fleck studied there as a younger student in the Preparatory Department of ESM as a budding concert pianist. The lure of New York City proved too strong for them to complete their masters degree....Bill was invited to join the Metropolitan Opera Studio...the touring wing of the parent company...and both he and Lynne went on to establish themselves as talented professional performers for several years in NYC before being invited to relocate to San Francisco to join Western Opera Theater, again, a touring company associated with the San Francisco Opera Company....they've both done a bit of touring! When those engagements were terminated (nobody stays with WOT more than three years) and a faculty position opened up at CSU, Sacramento, Bill applied and was appointed as assoc. Professor of voice and opera at that school. When his professional engagements took him out of town, Lynne was a natural choice to provide the students with the instruction they needed....the students actually benefitted from the slightly different perspective of soprano and bass-baritone voice examples. As all good things do, the job came to an end because of the lack of an advanced degree and the Flecks moved once again, this time to the Boston area where Bill had established himself as a regular with the famed Boston Opera under Sarah Caldwell and also where he secure a position as voice/opera teacher at the University of Lowell. When he got too busy with rehearsals at the Boston Opera, guess who again filled the gap left by his absence....you got it...Lynne! Well, after a few years went by, Bill was tapped to join the Metropolitan Opera as a regular artist, meaning that he performed several times a week in both supporting and featured roles, while "covering"....read "standing by"...for the lead roles which were performed by international stars. Lynne had quite a number of piano students coming to their home in Ridgefield, CT during this period. They just recently moved from CT to New Smyrna Beach where they will not miss, one bit, the ice and snow of New England
