ON TEACHING: I have over 20 years of piano teaching experience, from beginner to advanced, and teach all styles and genres. ON TUNING: What makes me a skilled and exemplary piano tuner is my extensive training from the Butler School of Piano Technology, 10+years of experience, AND possessing a seasoned musician's ear from my 30 years as a classically trained pianist/instructor. Other tuners may say it isn't important that a technician is not a musician in order to tune. This is true to the point of achieving a decent "technical" tuning...but for a GREAT tuning, both technical precision and musicianship is vital. After all, the ultimate goal in tuning is to have a beautifully sounding, well balanced MUSICAL instrument. No two pianos are the same, so every tuning I do is customized to the particular instrument. I not only balance the instrument in a precise technical manner using tools and formulas, but I ultimately rely on my ear training and work diligently to achieve the most pleasing overall sound for YOUR piano. I always test out the new tuning by playing classical pieces on it and then fine-tuning, if needed...so my customers can actually HEAR the results immediately!
