FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing for tutoring is straightforward and not complicated. There is NO contract and no advance payment required. Payment is on a pay as you go basis with payment requested the same day as the tutoring session is completed. There are NO minimum number of hours required or any required frequency of meetings. Tutoring fee is a flat $125 per hour. Some of the books I authored can also be found on Amazon like SAT and chemistry books. That is the best way I know of to demonstrate my proficiency in what I teach. Another way is great references. There are some on Thumbtack. I can send others as well. I literally have hundreds of letters. Parents/students are welcome to meet Dr. Fikar via Zoom to ask any questions, see any documents, or evidence of his great success before deciding to hire a tutor. The Zoom meeting or phone call is free without obligation.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Review of previous test scores gives a great starting point. All private Zoom tutoring is personalized to the need of the student or parent requests. My great expertise in ALL parts of these tests means that you are not hiring a teacher who might be great in math or reading but just mediocre in another area because of lack of education or training in the other weaker areas. Ask me about my educational background and training.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Former university professor plus 30 years of experience = 90+% success rate. Ph.D. in science (for math, science) and professional experience in writing/editing (for reading, grammar).
