They cleaned black Moss off my cement roof, power washed my house and cleaned my windows inside and out. Not only was the work done excellently, but the team of people working for Dan couldn't have been more professional and courteous. They even did some extras on the pressure cleaning (bleaching white columns with mold) to make it come out perfectly.

Contacted Larry and was able to get a quote promptly to have 5 damaged windows repaired. He honored the quote even though some of the 44 year old windows took longer than expected to repair. Had all necessary parts and had repair done that afternoon. Difficult to find someone to repair windows this old. Highly recommend

Frank at "A Mcgrath Enterprises" has done an awesome job for us at our salon in Delray Beach with glass and mirror installation. He also hand made a great curved specialty glass table top for my home, installed a new shower door plus fixed my broken windows fast and for a very reasonable price . I plan on using him for all glass installations at my new Salon in Jupiter , Fl and recommend him highly . Carmen @ European Therapeutics, Salon & Spa

We were impressed right from the start. We sent a request for a quote on a Sunday, he contacted us, almost immediately. Showed up. Quoted us, without pressure, a very fair price. Due to his responsiveness & no pressure sales presentation, we went ahead and gave him the job. This is very unusual for us, but we couldn't be happier. We've since had solar pool panels installed. The technician that we've used for over 15 years, even commented on what a great job was done on our roof. Finally, Paul has made sure we were completely satisfied throughout the process. We have asked now him to quote us insulation for our attic & impact windows for our home.

Stephen was excellent to work with! We hired him to cover/remove a door that we no longer needed and he did such a great job on this project which was something a lot of other contractors wouldn’t even attempt. He took his time and did it perfect. We ended up hiring him to install our hurricane impact door, install window sills, fix a leak in a third door that someone else had installed , and finish the frame work that someone else had never completed. He is now our go to person for all house projects in the future :)

I hired Ramon to remove some plywood that we covered the windows with in preparation for the hurricane. Although it was a small, yet tedious job, Ramon was very responsive and accommodating. My tenants and I were very happy with his work and hope to work with him again on the future.

I called Vin to remove a house full of shutters after the Hurricane. I had not known of him before my initial phone call. His price was reasonable and his reviews were all good. We set a time to meet to start the job which he agreed to do with 2 other men. Here is what I got: 3 fine conscientious men who showed up on time, Precision-like meticulous experienced work completed as promised, A price that was honored and not changed at the end, Professionalism and kindness 2nd to none. Dealing with Vin was a 100% stress-free pleasure with no "Hidden Surprises". I wish I could clone Vin and his Handyman Service. It would make life so much better here in South Florida where Vin and his Handyman Service are Truly A Rare Find. Vin offers many home services and I will definitely be calling him in the future and referring him business whenever the opportunity arises. With much gratitude, Benita Koenig, Realtor

Joe kept me informed throughout the day as to their schedule and Justin and Gerald arrived on time. Several tricky (at least to me) issues with windows, a glass storm door panel and sliding doors. In short order they repaired 3 windows (and had to leave for parts), a slider, reglazed and securely installed the storm panel (which had fallen out of a door when it was slammed by the wind). Very efficient work. Having had window and slider work done before I felt their price was very reasonable. I will call them again for "handy man things".

I hired Jobert to replace my sliding bypass closet doors with French open doors. When he was here, I also asked if he could fix the pavers in our driveway that had become dislodged and scattered. He was able to do both projects in one day and we're happy with his work. He is prompt, friendly and professional.

Skip's work is AMAZING. He created exactly what we had envisioned, and did it with such precision, pride and quality. He knew exactly what he was doing from start to finish, was incredibly professional and was a joy to work with. On top of everything, he also happens to be a great person. I finally have my own bay window bench for our kitchen table and I love it. Thank you Skip!!!!!

I called this company thinking I needed new rollers on my slider. So honest as they were not needed. They scheduled an appt to replace a broken spring on a window and after doing that took care of all my other windows that were almost impossible to open. Absolutely the best customer service. I'll be using them after hurricane season to rescreen my lanai. So professional and so polite - look no further !!!

Will definitely keep in mind for any hurricane protection and or window service needs. Great work.

We replaced windows in our home we recently purchased in Fort Lauderdale. The Window Guys were not only priced below the other companies I received quotes for, but they were very knowledgeable about the various impact windows which worked best for my home. We were not sure which manufacturer to go with, but The Window Guys eliminated that headache for us and provided us with the best manufacturer for our home at the best price. We will definitely recommend them to all of our friends and use them for future work we will need.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

  • Trim repair:
    • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
    • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
  • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
  • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
    • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
    • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
      • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.
