She is a genuine animal lover and I would trust her with anything when it comes to pet sitting. She is the most honest person I have ever met, no homeowner would have to worry about belongings or valuables. She is amazing! She had her hands full with my job and was a huge help. She has her own pets so she knows exactly what she's doing. She was reliable and put some projects on hold to take care of my job. I would've loved to have kept her on for my pet sitting but I'm not in a place for that right now.

When we were interviewing pet sitters 7 years ago, Marcia was the first one to stoop down to meet our girls first. Not only has she pet sit our dogs in our home over the years, she has house sit with them in our home and also has picked them up to keep them outside our home when needed. She is trustworthy and kind hearted and good with the dogs. The daily texts are a godsend to me as I worry about the pups when I am away. I would highly recommend her services.

Jessica has been the best!!!! I love my clean and decluttered house!!! Before I hired Jessica, I had a cluttered house and didn't know where to start on getting rid of everything. The first thing I noticed about Jessica was her work ethic upon arriving and her passion for what she does and her clients satisfaction. Since hiring Jessica, I have a pristine house and she's only a text/call if I need her help. The best part is the feeling that I have a clean house, a closet I can walk in (not the case previously) and the inspiration to continue what she's started in my house. You deserve to hire Jessica if you are in a similar place I was. My husband also can't quit talking about how clean the house is and I've been beaming ear to ear!! I could go on for days.... I am so excited!!! Hire Jessica! :)

Walkies is an excellent pet sitting choice. I got pictures of my kitties each morning and evening. They were well cared for and she kept an eye out for my house and outside as well. Highly recommend this company.

Alison stayed at my house and took care of my two shy cats for about a month last May. In my initial phone conversation with her I already felt comfortable and when she drove up and I met her in person I knew she was perfect. She is very open, friendly, and communicative. I felt very confident leaving my house and my two adored cats with her. She has a gentle, calm presence and was very attentive to the functioning idiosyncracies of my house. I had just put in a new lawn and so watering of that and the garden in general was an important extra that needed doing. Needless to say, my yard looked great when I got back! As did the house, and even the cats were calm and happy. If Alison is available the next time I travel I would have her back again with no reservations.

Jazzy was great! We went away for a long day trip and she came over twice during the day. She stayed with my three fur babies for a good amount of time, sent me pictures, and took great care of them. We will definitely be using her services again!

Kimberley does such an incredible job pet sitting my beagle mix rescue, Lacey. She's still a pup and needs a lot of attention. I know she's in good hands when I'm away for work trips. Kimberly texts me adorable pictures of Lacey so I can see how she's doing. She loves going on hikes with Kimberly. Kimberly spoils Lacey. I highly recommend Kimberly for your pet sitting and dog walking needs.

Allison is wonderful. My pets were treated like her pets and I came back to a house in better shape than I left it.

I loved getting an email from Megan every day when she checked in to my house and when she completed her visit. She sent pics of my cats every day! When I got home she had not only swept up the cat litter around the boxes, I’m pretty sure she swept up the fur tumbleweeds! I definitely recommend Pup Club and will be using them again when I go out of town this fall!

We met Barbara through Thumbtack. She cared for our pet and home in our absence. My dogs immediately took a liking to her. She left my house clean and spotless. I don't think my dogs missed us at all. We will use her again and again! We are so happy to have found her!

    About

*currently in relocation mode & unable to respond to new job inquiries. * grew up with dogs as a child. We had 6 hunting beagles and 1 german shepherd. I personally have owned 9 boxer dogs in the last 40 years; always 2 at a time. Although, I did seek out to become a dog trainer by profession at one time, I have had no formal training. The K-9 Academy in Los Angeles had met my previous boxers and asked me, "Who taught you to train your dogs?" I asked "Why?" K-9 replied, "Because boxers are one of the most difficult dogs to train; because they are so intelligent and get so distracted." I replied, "I didn't know that. I trained them myself." I have a super love for dogs. My dogs have never been hit, never been yelled at; and never bribed with treats. Dogs respond to love and leadership. They get confused if they don't understand us - but if they do, they just want to please us. Remember the movie "Horse Whisper"? That is a gift. I believe God gave me a gift to understand dogs and they to understand me. My dogs have been Pet Therapy dogs - the Hospital Staff loved my Clyde so much that they said, "Take him off leash & let him walk around." (in Chronic Care Ward in the hospital) My boxers have also been on the front page of newspapers in Pet Walk-a-Thons.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is house sitting?

A house sitter watches your house while you are away for work or vacation, or if you have to be away for an extended period. House sitters can also provide pet-sitting services, staying in your home and caring for your pet while you are away. The house sitter can say overnight in your home while you’re gone, or stop by once a day to ensure everything is in order if your pet doesn’t need overnight supervision. Reptiles and most cats are just fine with daily visits and feeding.

House sitting provides major advantages to the homeowner. A regular presence in your house deters break-ins and theft. Home safety issues such as water leaks get noticed and dealt with right away, so you don’t come home to big problems. A house sitter can bring in your mail daily, care for your houseplants, and provide home safety and peace of mind.

How do I find a reliable house sitter?

House sitting can help keep your home safe and well cared for so you can be worry-free while you’re away for work or play. There are several steps you can take to make sure you hire a trustworthy house sitter and do your part to be a responsible host. One of the best ways to ensure a safe home is to hire a professional house sitter. Here are some key points to look for when hiring a house sitter:

    • Reviews and referrals: When searching for a house sitter, always read reviews. Previous experiences will indicate how the house sitter will care for your home while you’re away.
    • Contract: Sign a clearly written contract outlining services to be provided (e.g., mail in each day by 5 p.m.), the daily rate you are paying, and how long the services will be provided. You can also include any agreed-upon house rules in the written contract.
    • Your part: Leave important phone numbers (vet, emergency contact, etc.) and information on where to find emergency items like the circuit breaker and the fire extinguisher, and have a credit card on file with the veterinarian in case of emergencies if the house sitter is watching your pets.
