I have two story condo. Small bathroom toilet was leaking from the base and the attic access door was shut closed (not accessible) on the second floor. I hired this company to fix the toilet leak and open and build a folding staircase for the attic. I hired this. Carlos came and quoted me $400 for fixing toilet and $900 for building attic staircase. Total of $1300. He asked me to send him $700 with Zelle. I did. Two guys came next day. Those two guys were late and left for lunch for two hours after they fix the toilet leak. After they make a big hole in the ceiling they left early afternoon around 3pm before finishing the job. They said that their boss Carlos told them to go to another job since they could not figure out how to make the stairs fit to ceiling. Next day, they managed to fit the stairs to the ceiling but moved the smoke detector out of its place on the ceiling and they left without telling me anything about what they have done and what else needed to be done. I spoke with Carlos about it. He sent those two guys next day. After he put the smoke detector back to its place, he was leaving without telling about me anything. I stopped him at the door. I asked if the job is completed. He said yes and he was leaving. I looked at the ceiling, the surface of the staircase (when it was stowed) was brown plywood. I told him it needs to be painted. He told me to talk with Carlos. Carlos said that he will send painter. Same day a lady and a guy came to paint the staircase plywood, trim and the ceiling around the trim. During the whole process they only cover the area under the ceiling where they were working but did not cover the newly painted stairs. They went up and down stepping on the metal shavings all over the stairs. They cleaned the stairs before they left after I told them that stairs recently painted. Eventually job is completed and I am satisfied with the end result. Carlos called me for the rest of the payment and asked me to pay $700. I reminded him about my $700 payment a few days ago and the remaining payment is $600, not $700. He said, oh okay my lady! I sent $600 with Zelle. I asked invoice for tax and insurance purpose, he asked me in which name he should send it to. I gave him my full name and address etc yesterday and asked him to email it to me. I am still waiting for him to send me that invoice. He doesn’t lose time to get his money but he doesn’t honor his customer’s request. He should have measure the ceiling and make plan before he let his workers to make a huge hole in the ceiling and try to figure out how to make it work later. He asked $100 more than what we have agreed. I believe he charged me a lot for the toilet leak anyway ($400) but I wanted to get it fixed as soon as possible. Despite I told him that it needs to be fixed that day since it was constantly leaking, he said that it will be done next day even though I met him in the morning and he had all day to get it fixed that day. He didn’t see the urgency of the problem. His workers are rude, noncommunicating and unprofessional. The job completed but I would never recommend this contractor to anybody.
