As a Triathlete I have been using acupuncture for a number of years to keep myself healthy enough to continue to train and compete. Finding Alaina was huge stroke of luck, not only for the treatments I have received but the additional advice that I was given regarding nutrition and pain management. Ariana is a regular part of my training regime and will continue to be so.

Dr Williams was able to help me with long standing sciatic pain, that no surgeons or orthopedics could fix. On top of this, able to help with my anxiety thru acupuncture and natural herbs. As A result, I have sent her a number of clients already.

Dale was able to help me when my primary care physician wasn't able to. The herbal remedies he made me helped my system clean itself out and kickstart itself back into a better semblance of health. The acupuncture he provided definitely helped with all the nerve pain i experience on a daily basis. He is one of the best in my opinion.

I have been going to several Medical Drs. and Neuroligists and Neuro surgeons since 1985 to attempt to get relief for severe post traumatic head and shoulder pain with all the normal medications and therapists with little or no releif. After starting with acupuncture treatments with Dr. Osborne we had achieved almost complete relief after about 3-4 months. Dr John not only gave me back the ability to live my life again and do things that I had been doing years ago. Dr. John has also treated and releived ongoing problems that go along with everyday active living to better enjoy doing things with our family and young grandchildren, Dr John also succesfully treated ongoing post traumatic neck pain , all without the usual grocerybag full of medications that we all get when we go to medical Drs.. Dr. John will recommend other treatments by medical physycians when they are neccecary . Yes, it was a GREAT day when my wife suggested that I go to Dr. John in an attempt to obtain some relief. My wife and I try to go every week for " maintenace" and relief from numerous problems associated with the "senoirs" day to day living problems.

I came to Dr. Michael to deal with my sleep issues. For years I was looking for a solution, so obviously I was very skeptical at first, but to my biggest surprise, it worked! Dr. Michael is all you want your acupuncturist to be: he is patient, caring and knowledgeable. The sessions are a real treat. After each time I felt very relaxed.

Dr. Kuperman practices acupuncture and has a degree in Chinese medicine which gives him an extensive knowledge of herbal remedies as well. Dr. Kuperman treated me very successfully for several painful conditions without the need for any powerful prescription drugs. Dr. Kuperman took the time to answer all my questions both in person and via email. He also did research of his own and contacted other acupuncturist to help treat the most troubling of my problems. Unfortunately, I live in a small city which did not provide Dr. Kuperman with the opportunity to develop the sort of practice his skills warranted. I was very sorry to see him leave, but even after he left he helped me find a new acupuncturist in St. Louis, which is the closest large city to my home. I would recommend him without reservation to anyone.

I experienced major back pain from a job I had 10 years ago. I moved furniture, appliances, and big screen tv's for over 5 years and had really severe back pain. I went to a physical therapy and rehab center for months but stopped going after I noticed it was not helping and was starting to cost alot of money. I almost gave up and lost hope until I found Sarasota Clinical Acupuncture. I never really thought about acupuncture before but heard it worked and found a testimonial on the internet about Dr. Sewell and thought I would give it a try. I was impressed with the nice atmosphere and the staff was extremely nice. Dr. Sewell used a low level laser treatment for my back and I started to notice the pain dramatically decrease after the first visit and continue to diminish on subsequent visits After a few visits, my pain was completely gone. I am grateful for what Dr. Sewell has done for me and going to Sarasota Clinical Acupuncture has been one of the best decisions I ever made. I would definately highly recommend this great service to anyone that experiences any type of pain, it really works.

I happened to stumble upon the clinic that Geoff was working at while working myself, took some information, and gave it a try. Geoff was very personable and funny, made you feel at ease as soon as you walked in. He always had a light touch and was very thorough in every aspect of our sessions. I would recommend Geoff to anyone, and have already!!

I work primarily from distance, which allows me to help keep your costs down while providing personalized service. I use whole food supplements rather than chemical isolates to restore health. Combining Clinical nutrition with Chinese medicine theory, I use a comprehensive symptom based analysis (and labs when needed) to determine underlying imbalances and uncover which organ systems are in need of support. When your body is out of balance, it may be years before symptoms show up, but the imbalance may lead to premature aging, low energy, digestive problems, metabolic problems, etc...

What are the benefits of acupuncture?

There are many proven health benefits of acupuncture, whether you’re seeking short-term relief or need help with a chronic health condition. This alternative healing is likely why millions of adults nationwide get acupuncture treatments each year. Acupuncture provides pain relief, can help speed the body’s natural healing process, and has also been proved to have positive outcomes on mental health concerns such as depression. Acupuncture can also help relieve discomfort associated with chronic and terminal illnesses. For example, acupuncture has been proved to be effective in helping cancer patients manage pain, nausea and vomiting, fatigue, hot flashes, xerostomia (dry mouth), neuropathy (nervous system problems), anxiety, depression and sleep disturbances, according to Cancer.gov. Acupuncture is a safe and effective alternative to opioids and other pain medications, which not only are hard on the body but also present the risk of addiction. The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services found that people had less pain or were better able to manage pain when they received acupuncture as part of their health treatment.

How does acupuncture work?

Acupuncture works by restoring the body’s natural healing powers. Acupuncture involves placing very thin needles into specific points on the body to influence the body’s energy flow and help the body heal itself in a natural way. In traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is linked to the belief that disease is caused by disruptions to the flow of energy (called qi in Chinese) in the body. The acupuncturist places whisper-thin needles into the arms, back, neck and other areas where the chi (or energy flow) has been blocked. The acupuncture needles stimulate points on or under the skin called acupuncture points or acupressure points, releasing this qi. These pathways — called “meridians” — become re-stimulated by the needles to bring blood and healing to the body. In Western medicine, acupuncture has been proved to relieve pain and help provide healing and relief from painful symptoms associated with everything from headaches to asthma to cancer. Western medicine sees the use of the needles as a way to stimulate the body’s nervous system, thereby prompting healing.

Is it safe to use acupuncture?

The general consensus from doctors, researchers and government health organizations is that yes, it is safe to have acupuncture. As with all things, there can be some risks associated with acupuncture, but with proper attention to a few key details, your health should be in good hands when you receive treatments.

The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (a branch of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services) states that “relatively few complications from using acupuncture have been reported. Still, complications have resulted from use of non-sterile needles and improper delivery of treatments.” Thus, the health risks associated with acupuncture are generally a result of human error (non-sterile needles and improper placement) as opposed to how acupuncture works in your body. Research your acupuncture provider to make sure they meet state regulations, and inquire about the use of FDA-regulated acupuncture needles. These are classified as medical devices for use by licensed practitioners, and the NCCIH states they are required to be manufactured and labeled according to certain standards (sterile, nontoxic, and labeled for single use only).

What is an acupuncture treatment?

An acupuncture treatment is a type of integrative health care session that uses needles (and sometimes heat and/or electrical stimulation) to stimulate the body’s nervous system to begin a healing process. Long practiced in traditional Chinese medicine and other Eastern cultures, acupuncture has gained widespread acceptance and use as a complementary and integrative part of healing in Western medicine. During an acupuncture treatment, the patient lies in a relaxed position on a table that is very similar to a massage table. The acupuncturist, having done a diagnosis of health concerns and determined a course of treatment, will insert thin stainless steel needles into the prescribed acupuncture points. These points are determined by the patient’s health needs. The practitioner may gently manipulate the needles to trigger a healing response in the body. Typically there is no pain associated with the treatment. A session may use anywhere from 6-30 needles or more, depending on what illness is being treated. The needles can remain in place for 5-30 minutes, with 15 minutes being a common time. Acupuncture treatments are often prescribed in a series, based on patient need.
