I have hired Joseph for multiple projects and he has gone above and beyond expectations! I am more than happy with his work. I hired him for an installation job and before he began, he asked what my future goals were and if I would be staying in the home for a while. He had quoted me on painting the exterior of the home, replacing my fence and also landscape design and installation. All of his prices were extremely reasonabe and honest.Joseph and his crew at flawless landscaping had great integrity, amazing professionalism, and outstanding customer service! You can tell Joseph trained his team to do quality work and to strive for perfection. After every work day Joseph and his crew kept me informed on each phase on the projects. I highly recommend them to anyone! Best wishes to you, and your future success, Joseph!

We are are new Florida from Alexandria Virginia. Our new home is lovely and we were looking for a master licensed sprinkler system expert since we had no experience with their use. Chris Thoms from United Sprinkler Inc. came to our house and we did a walk around the property inspecting the sprinkler system and he also taught me how to program the system. Chris is honest and even came out the next day (Sunday) to install new sprinkler heads on the system. As a business person myself I respect the hard work and dedication that Chris put into getting us off on the right path to saving money and no need to remeber that he will be back in the winter to winterize our system and again in the spring to get us off to a good start. No more worries about my lawn. We feel that it is in good hands. Work,on time and attitude were excellent.

Lucian was great to work with. He was professional and punctual and the work was done to spec. The project was to landscape an area with shell for a fire pit; remove a citrus tree and gring down an old oak stump. Won't hesitate to contact him again in the future.

Justin was extremely professional & very accommodating. As a woman with a small child, I was skeptical at first about having someone I don't know come to my home. However, Justin was very polite and made the process effortless. He was on time, worked quickly, and cleaned everything up behind himself. I couldn't have asked for more. I now know who I will call (and refer) for any future tree trimming/removal services. Job VERY well done! Thanks, Justin!

I found Superior Landscape and Home Maintenance, LLC through a list I solicited from ThumbTack. I have hired different contractors over the years and had positive and negative experiences. Superior Landscape and Home Maintenance, LLC had a good overall rating with ThumbTack: That was a good start. The other contractors eliminated themselves based on 1-2 negative customer interactions; a lack of product information; or 0 customer reviews. Superior Landscape and Home Maintenance, LLC had none of these. I hired Superior Landscape and Home Maintenance, LLC to replace the red lava rock around my shrubs with white stone. Their representative arrived promptly ahead of appointment time. We discussed the project, and that was an easy sell. The representative did as expected explaining how the project would likely proceed and gave excellent explanations and advice on the other possible projects I asked about without zero selling of any kind. The representative emailed a proposal, and I reviewed and signed immediately as it was exactly what was discussed. The work crew came at the appointed time and finished within two workdays. Everything is done without a second thought or complication! Thank you, Superior Landscape and Home Maintenance, LLC! As with any company, this first call was a test: It went so well, I will be calling about other projects as needed. We will continue doing business into the future. Thank you!

I posted on Thumbtack to find someone to remove the wallpaper in my kitchen and also to texture and paint the walls. C & D responded immediately and showed up the very next day to give us a quote. I hired them, they were able to start the job right away and they did an EXCELLENT job. I have since hired Chad and Daniel for two other jobs (reinstalling our disposer after we got a new sink and then to tear out a wall to install support beams over our fireplace to install our new TV; they also repaired the drywall and repainted the wall). I cannot recommend C & D highly enough...they showed up on time, cleaned up after themselves and did everything they said they would do--- they even fixed a couple of little things that they noticed after they got here. C & D respond immediately when I text or call them with questions and/or concerns.

From the first contact with Jackie, everything went as planned. Jimmy came out when promised and gave us some ideas for what he envisioned and 'knocked out socks' off with the finished product. His estimate was 'right on' with no surprises. My wife and I would highly recommend Tampa Landscapes to anybody considering updating or changing their landscape. When we have more work to do around our house, Jackie will be the first and only person we'll call. You have to SEE their work (and Jimmy's ideas) to BELIEVE it.

He did a complete landscape, patio and waterfall project at our house. The project took about three weeks. I was very impressed by the quality of the work. The creativity and communication were fantastic. We didn't know what we wanted and he created multiple designs until it was perfect. They worked late a few days and completed the project before the estimated time. We highly recommend him.

I first hired Juan and his crew to do a labor intensive project of removing, cleaning and placing a landscape grade mesh under the white marble rocks around my property. They arrived as scheduled and completed the job in less time than promised. I have since hired Magnolia Landscape for five more projects and have been happy with all the work they have done. I am happy to recommend them to anyone needing quality landscape work done in a timely manner for a fair price.

They did exactly what they said they would, and more. Awesome experience, not the type of customer service I expected from a landscape company. Re-landscaped my front yard and it looks better than I expected it to, I have recommended their services to many.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a landscape contractor do?

Landscape contractors work from outdoor architectural or design plans to build and install hardscaping or softscaping for the client, much as a general contractor uses architectural designs to build a house. Landscape contractors are experts in soil drainage, grading, hardscaping (installing concrete paths and retaining wall, building ponds, etc.), and planting. They have heavy equipment such as excavators and tractors to prepare the land as needed.

Some landscape contractors are also landscape architects or landscape designers. The titles can be compared with those in home construction: A building or landscape architect must earn a specialized architecture degree and pass an exam to have a license. A designer — whether an interior designer or a landscape designer — does not usually require a license to work. Landscape contractors are not required by law to work from plans designed by a landscape architect, so you may work directly with the landscape contractor to specify the work you’d like done. The national average cost for large-scale landscaping projects is $10,160. Pricing can vary greatly depending on the project scope, materials and design.

How do you find a good landscape architect?

Hiring a landscape architect is an investment in your home. Landscaping can reduce water bills, improve your home resale value, add to your daily living experience and significantly boost curb appeal. A landscape architect will draw the designs for your new landscape; you’ll want to hire a landscape contractor to carry out the plans. Many companies provide design-build landscaping services, with a company architect creating plans for your vision and the landscape contractor executing the vision. With the proper academic background and licensing, a person can be both landscape architect and landscape contractor. Here are a few tips for finding a great landscape architect:

  • Research online portfolios and find several landscape architects whose work interests you.
  • Read online reviews of client experiences.
  • Research whether the landscape architects you are interested in are currently licensed and in good standing with the licensing board, and check whether any complaints have been issued against them. Each state will have their own searchable database. For example, you can search for California landscape architects via the state’s Department of Consumer Affairs.
  • Request bids from your selected landscape architects.
  • Hire the one you like the most, taking care to have a clearly written contract outlining scope of work.

What should you look for when hiring a landscaper?

Landscaping can be costly — though it usually pays off in curb appeal and home resale value — so finding a landscaper who is worth the investment is important. When hiring a landscaper, look for proven success with the type of results you want. For example, if you know you want a drought-tolerant yard, research websites, reviews and portfolios that showcase beautiful drought-tolerant yards that the landscaper has installed. In addition to relevant experience, you’ll want to find a landscape contractor who has good client reviews. Good communication skills are another important quality in a landscape contractor, since everything from plant selection to hardscape installation needs to be discussed and agreed upon. A landscape contractor who is reliable, easy to understand and able to listen to what you want will help make the process seamless and enjoyable.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
