Paul, of Maintenance Edge, called us on New Year's Day (1st red flag!), told us he'd had a cancellation and was 15 minutes away from our home if we'd like him to come "diagnose" our washer/dryer problems. I asked him, "Will you apply your diagnostic fee to the repair fee if we opt to have you make the repairs?" He told me, "Yes" (which he later denied after he had our $105 check and has NOT ever supplied us with a repair quote). I said OK & he came over. While at our home, he discovered that the belt on our dryer had broken but , of course, he didn't have one with him, even though we'd supplied Thumbtack with the model numbers etc. and what I'd heard when the dryer stopped, which would indicate to any knowledgeable repairman that the belt broke. He told me that his wife was having a dinner party that night but he would email us a quote yet that evening. We did NOT get a quote from Paul, so I asked my husband to follow up with Paul the next day if we never received a quote. When I returned home from errands, my husband said that he'd not received any quote from Paul but that he called Paul. Paul told husband that he lived so far from us that it didn't make economical sense for him to do the dryer (only) repair. Paul had NOT diagnosed the washer problem! Paul suggested to husband that it would be much cheaper to call Badger Bob to make the repairs!!! Guess what? I'd previously talked to Badger Bob and he charges $104 to "diagnose" two appliances which cost does NOT apply to the repair. That's why I did NOT elect to employ Badger Bob. I offered Paul to return my check for $105 and I would send him a check for $52.50 (half his "diagnostic" fee for his time and we'd call it quits with each other. Instead, Paul has cashed our check for $105 and NEVER gave us a quote, let alone a repair, applying his initial fee to said repair. Oh, by the way, he got loud with me on the phone, yelling at me, frankly. Do NOT deal with this man. Not only can he NOT fix any appliance (as he represents on Thumbtack), he cannot even diagnose all appliances. I wished I'd never allowed him into our home. Let the buyer beware.

I have been struggling for three months to have a washer/dryer properly installed in one of my rental properties.
