Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I am a Certified Personal Trainer with years of experience in the fitness industry. To witness enormous life changes that add so much benefit is why I wake up each day for my clients. I genuinely want to see people become stronger, feel better and live healthier. To share with them the value that I have experienced in my own life through an active lifestyle and fitness is a gift that I take very seriously. But also we have fun! My process: Together we evaluate your overall lifestyle, put in place achievable goals and then work to make progressive changes to reach those goals and maintain healthy habits. Spending time in the gym is only part of the equation. We also focus on diet and lifestyle changes that will move you to reach your goals. I create enjoyable personalized training sessions that are designed for you to make progress. I primarily work with my clients on strength and resistance training(body weight, bands, machines, barbells, dumbbells etc.) with a high emphasis on mobility(movement through the joints) and conditioning for overall fitness. Building muscle is the best way to increase metabolism and burn fat while creating a strong functional body. But a strong body is no good to you if your body cannot move properly and feels stiff and tight. A full scope of fitness is the best way to feel and be your best self. I love working with people of all backgrounds and fitness levels. I have experience working with busy parents, seniors, teenagers, working professionals, and athletes. Your training will be at a fitness studio in Sarasota with all modern equipment and great atmosphere. I do travel to some clients for in-home training depending on location and scheduling. I also do remote training and programming. As someone who has dealt with mental illness and the way that effects your health and relationship to exercise, I empathize with clients concerns and challenges about exercise and mental issues. I am accommodating to make each time we meet comfortable and helpful to keep you on track to reach your goals. I am here to be your support, partner and friend.

After not exercising for a year, I needed someone to help me get moving again and committed to an exercise routine. Not only did Luke help me do that, but he made the sessions enjoyable so that I actually wanted to work out versus HAVING to work out. He’s very thorough in asking about and addressing concerns you have as well as ensuring your form is correct so that you get the max benefit out of each exercise and prevent injury. Luke is very knowledgeable, professional, keeps your workouts interesting and is a really great person to boot. Highly recommend.

I have to update my review, the original was old. There were two, possibly three, occasions where he arrived 15+ minutes late to my sessions, yet I still paid full price even though my sessions were cut short. I didn't complain. On many occasions he was very distracted during our sessions at a local park, it was very annoying. Any time a female under 50 was in eye shot, his head was turned around and he was no longer paying attention to his client. I even asked him on one occasion if he wanted me to introduce him to her, that is how blatant it was. There was another girl that I referred to as his "girlfriend" because during two separate sessions he did nothing but stare at this girl sunbathing at the park. I did not complain about this either. There were also consistent issues with response times to messages. Frequently I had to wait 2-3 days for a response, especially on weekends. Then my life situation changed and I had to use my personal training budget for the purchase of a major asset. So I let Luke know and we discussed alternatives to meet my needs as paying customer. I had been seeing him 2x a week for 2 hours. We came to a decision about a proper path to meet my needs and he advised he would be in touch that weekend with my new workout plan. Over the course of the following two and a half weeks I had to remind him several times. His excuses were that he was too busy or that he was ignoring his phone for a few days because he needed a break. I have a client based business and I make myself available to them whenever they need me and I would NEVER have the audacity to tell a paying customer that I ignored their messages for 2-3 days because I was "taking a break from my phone". That is shocking to say the least. Terrible work ethic and no business acumen. I wanted to share this experience in hope of saving someone else from what I just went through for three months. I have since moved on and found the perfect trainer for me. He's got great business acumen and excellent work ethics. He responds right away, is very professional, is always on time, and always stays focused on me for the entire session, no matter what is going on around us.
Personal Training With Luke's reply
Dear April, I am saddened to hear your view of how our time together went for you. If you communicated to me at any time that issues were arising and given me that feedback at the time, I would have been happy to discuss them with you and adjust. I do admit to taking longer then originally stated to get your at home work out plan to you, that is on me. I should have communicated better that I was taking time off and wasn’t going to be able to get to it immediately. In your review you mentioned text communication was lacking, which was not the case in the least. I actually encouraged daily texts (even though I’m not being paid for this) to hold you accountable to your program outside of our time together. I responded when I could and always prompt and encouraging. As a trainer with other clients and responsibilities I cannot always respond the second I receive a text and would try to get to it as quickly as I could. I made the effort to go out of my way accommodate you by meeting you halfway from your home while not charging you more for my travel of 30 min to the location. We had enjoyable, motivating workouts that I designed for you and you always were happy about the results. I accommodated your work schedule and moved clients so I could be at your appointments when it worked for you. I also never charged you for missing or cancelling appointments, sometimes right before the session which was extremely inconvenient for me. I did this all because I knew you needed help, someone to guide you and make this process easy and not a burden or any harder for you. I put my heart into our time and just very sad that you’d go to this length to tarnish my reputation. Then you needed to quit for financial reasons after 45 days of which I was extremely understanding and we tried to make the pivot. After your last text communication it was clear to me that working together going forward wouldn’t be in the best interest for both of us as there were lines that were being crossed. I thank you for opening my eyes to potential hazards and red flags to look out for when starting work with a client. So for that I thank you 😊 I do hope the best for you and your health journey. I could have been clearer about my boundaries and communication expectations and will try to do better in the future. You helped me learn a lot ! I appreciate you and glad you have a trainer that is willing to work with you.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Sessions are paid monthly. I do not do pay per sessions. I give discounts on packages if multiple months are paid for up front. If session is cancelled within 24 hours it will be counted as a used session.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I first meet with a prospective client face to face and have a conversation about their goals, expectations, limitations and mindset. I mostly listen and you mostly talk. In the same session I complete a movement assessment to evaluate your level of fitness. We then discuss both short term and long term goals based on my evaluation and your overall goals and we agree to expectations moving forward and commit to a schedule and plan. Then, I create a systematic workout plan for the coming months with communication and adjustments with the client being made at checkpoints along the way.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Counsel of Exercise.
