FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Pets sitters international has webinars covering just about any area of pet sitting so I take advantage of them. I also just completed a 2 day course on first aid and CPR for pets. I also volunteer for Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida as a foster and adoption counselor. They have an area on their website that is learning for volunteers which also covers many areas.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
For many years I loved being with animals. I volunteered at SPCA and worked at a no kill shelter as well. I pet sat for friends and since I enjoy it so much I decided to do it professionally. There is nothing more rewarding than taking care of a pet so that their owner can feel good about leaving them.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I will check and bring in the paper and mail, water their plants, brush/comb their dog or cat. empty litter pans and put in fresh litter, clip the cat or dog's nails. Make sure that they have fresh water and clean up any messes that there pet leaves. The most important thing is spending time with the pet letting them know that I am there and that I will give them the same care that their owner would
