It was obvious that Kat loves dogs and, if my dog could talk, he would tell us he loved being with Love at first Sit. Our dog is very energetic and the facility was exactly what he needed. I wouldn't hesitate to have him boarded there again.

Trustworthy, reliable, and affordable. I have never used a dog walking service before and couldn't be happier that I found Smooch Your Pooch on the first try. Michelle and Cevin take wonderful care of our two dogs and provide us peace of mind as we know our home and pets are in excellent hands under their care. They have helped us on short notice, are always on time, and promptly respond to all our requests. And most importantly, our dogs love them! You can stop your search now. You've found the perfect pet sitters who will treat your pets like family.

As a mental health counselor and an animal assisted therapy facilitator, I very much wanted to have my own beagle certified to be a therapy dog. Jillian came highly recommended by friends and I have never been happier with my choice. Both my dog and I are very grateful to Jillian.

Katie's company has provided dog walking services for me since 2005. But that services goes far beyond just walking my dogs. I have rescued dogs that have unique personalities resulting from their time without human contact. Katie and her employee, Tami, have always provided excellent service. I have, on occasion, been away overnight and am very happy that my dogs can stay in the home with Katie and Tami caring for them. Both Katie and Tami are always on time, monitor the dogs to identify any potential problems, keep me apprised of those problems, and keep me advised of any activity that takes place around my home. I think of Katie and Tami as friends, rather than service providers. I trust both of them implicitly. My dogs mean the world to me and I know that I could not provide better care for the dogs than Katie and Tami provide for them. I cannot identify anything they could do better. I simply cannot praise them, their caring and compassion, and their dedication enough.

In describing Beths dog walking and pet sitting service, the only word I can use to describe it is spectacular. She has been taking care of my 2 shy and skittish schnauzers for over a year and they absolutely adore her. Prior to finding Mary Puppins Pet Nanny Service I had gone through several dog walkers with no success, as my dogs do not take to most people. As soon as they met Beth they fell in love. She has treated them as her own, with tremendous love and care and has gone way above dog walking and dog sitting. She has been a godsend and i would recommend her highly as do my dogs.

We were in Floruda last year and it was such a treat to find Andrya Underwood . We left our dogs with her and were able to go around and do some things knowing our two dogs were in the best of hands. She also came to our hotel where she will come, feed ,walk and play with them. She is great and truly loves these animals she cares for.

I have a full house. When you have two kids, five animals, a full-time job, and a husband.. there just isn't enough time in the day. By the time I got home with the kids, there was always a mess. The 2 dogs had either gotten into something or ripped something to shreds, so after dealing with this for far too long I decided I needed help. I had initially found out about Mae through a neighbor and so I decided to hire her to walk our two dogs for a couple days or so - to see how it went. She was wonderful! Mae came to my home for free to to meet the dogs, as well as sit and discuss exactly what I was looking for. I won't ever forget how warm and polite she was! She was very professional. I have a Mastiff and a little Shih Tzu, who are best buds but can be quite a handful to walk at the same time. I will say that she handles the two together quite well. Now I've been having her come everyday Mon-Fri to walk the dogs in the afternoon Mon-Fri. I couldn't be happier with Mae and Pink Pet Care!

I hired Mitch to care for my 3 Lhaso Apsos for 2 weeks during a recent trip to Norway and I couldn't be happier. He was recommended by an old sitter and I thought him to be very professional, conscientious and one who was very responsible to the needs of my girls. My neighbors told me that he was there several times a day as I had asked and that he was 'protective' of them as they met him during walks with their own dogs. He is an animal lover, a volunteer, a father and a real nice person. He is also bonded and licensed. Several of my neighbors asked me for his card when I returned and I gladly gave it to them. I would hire Mitch again, definitely!

Jose is a fantastic. We were having a very hard time walking our 1 year old white lab Quinnley. It was an exhausting and stressful experience. She pulled, lunged, jumped at other dogs. After 3 days with Jose, Quinnley has been transformed into a perfect lady. She is well behaved on the leash. It is truly astounding how she has changed. Jose is so kind and truly loves dogs. He is patient, gentle and passionate about what he does. He also takes the time to explain how and why he does things which is very helpful.

I was unable to use Michele's Pet Sitting Service due to a change in our plans. However, We were quite impressed with her when she came to our house for a Meet and Greet and gave me three references which were very good. Perhaps we can use her if the future.

Lisa was very impressive not only by her effective training strategies, but also in her efficiency. My 3yr old dog learned several skills (and maintained them!) in just one session with all positive reinforcement techniques. We had tried a cheaper group dog training from a big company before for 6 weeks and didn't get close to the same results we got working with Lisa (plus, it was far less stressful for my dog!) Absolutely would recommend her services!

You couldn't ask for any better if your looking for someone to care of your dog when you are away. She takes care of my little puppy like she is her own. Obviously my puppy can't tell me what she thinks but when my shy little girl takes off on a run toward the front door when we get there and is waging her tail like crazy I think it's safe to say that she is pretty happy an excited to be there :-)

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

      • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
      • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
      • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
      • What are your different walk routes?
      • When will you pick up and drop off?
      • How will we communicate?
      • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
      • What’s your cancellation policy?
      • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
      • How and how often do I pay you?
      • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
