Manny was very FLEXIBLE and EASY TO WORK WITH, he needed minimal to no follow-up. He completed the following 4 tasks and i wouldn't change a thing 1. Mounting of a 55" LED. 2. Assembly & installation of IKEA Shoe Cabinet 3. Mounting a mirror and 3-4 small pictures frames. 4. Installation of Striberg Automated LED Closet lights Would definitely a higher again...maybe as early as Monday (provided the items are in stock)

Derrick did a great job at a very reasonable price. Most important -- he recognized a major flaw in the current HVAC installation and proposed the best alternative solution, as confirmed by another expert.

I scheduled the appoint with Leandro, yesterday and he was at my house today at 9AM sharp as promised. Leandro did a full maintenance and inspection on my a/c unit and gave me honest and up front information about what might go wrong with my unit and at what point I should take action to protect my compressor. he was in and out in about 30 minutes and was very professional and at a great rate for a pure maintenance call. I would highly recommend Leandro at AC HOME LLC for my next a/c call, although I certainly hope it won't be for a long while.

To start off, I only post reviews when a service or product really sucks or when it's excellent, and I have to say 3HAC exceeded my expectations. I spent almost a whole month researching AC systems, brands, technologies, reputations and getting over a dozen visits and quotes. I had a budget of $13K for a new system and had narrowed the options down to exactly what I thought I wanted. After meeting with multiple AC dealers, I quickly realized that they were either eager to upsell expensive systems, didn't seem knowledgeable about the product they sold, seemed likely to "half ass" the installation and make a quick buck or simply didn't seem upfront and honest. After comparing multiple quotes, I finally met with Dan at 3HAC. He was punctual, polite, professional, knowledgeable and just an overall really nice guy. He didn't pressure me and didn't push expensive systems (he actually discouraged me from overspending on a very high SEER system because I wouldn't really recoup the difference in energy savings). He checked out my best previous quote and put together a system that BEAT it in specs AND price. I purchased from him a Trane system that was WAY better than the Carrier, Rheem and Goodman systems all the other guys were selling. He showed up right on time, did a great job with the installation and followed up after the job was done. Dan's wasn't the cheapest quote I had, but for the price I paid, he offered the best value, product brand reputation and had one of the best installer reputations and reviews. There is more to an AC system than Tons and SEERs, so don't focus on the "highest numbers for the lowest price" (salesmen can make anything look good on paper). A good installation is just as important too. The 3HAC website says they have a "long history of helping others honestly", and they certainly showed me that. As the saying goes, "you get what you pay for". But I think they gave me a little bit more for my money. If you're looking for a new system, a repair or simply maintenance, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND 3HAC.

Had a fantastic experience with this company! They came to the house very quickly to provide an estimate for my new unit. They provided the same products as other companies at a much better price to install. The installation was quick and efficient. They also cleaned the coils in my other unit, great job and great price. Everything is running great, extremely happy with their work.

I was very happy with Ben and his team and everything they did. I needed a new AC for my rental property and he was able to come out and do the installation for me at a great price and very quickly. He provided me with a quote and a contract which made me feel really comfortable to move forward. He and his technicians were very professional and wore plastic booties every time they came into my house. Ben found an issue with my air ducts during the installation and he fixed it at no extra charge. He even fixed some molding in the closet where my unit is so it looked perfect. Hands down I will recommend my family and friends to Ben for all other ac needs in the future.

After installing the new ceiling fan, it still didn't work. We realized that the switch was the problem, not the fan. Gordon waited for me while I went to the store to purchase a new switch, which he installed. Thank you!

I called Al-Air on a Friday morning and Jose came out later that day. He was prompt, knowledgeable and cleaned out my AC unit. He also gave me some tips on how to keep my unit working properly. I was so happy with the results that I requested an appointment for my grandfather’s house. He came out the next day and was able to fix the issue within 30 min. Which was great because it was during one a cold snap and the heater wasn’t turning on. I will always call Al-Air for all my AC needs. They are awesome.

I have used these guys for a few different projects, and am always blown away by their expertise and professionalism. They built a deck for my pool, renovated our kitchen, and installed a custom front door. I couldn't be happier with the work they did, and the timely manner they did it in. Would definitely use them again, and recommend them to a friend!

This company is amazing. They responded quickly to my situation and were at and under my house the next day to give me and accurate and very reasonable quote. They went to work the next morning for a full install. They assisted in financing, finished the install and cleaned up around my house when they were done. A truly FAMILY run company. Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who fixes furnaces?

If your furnace needs to be repaired, you’ll want to find a qualified heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) repair technician. Each state has its own licensing requirements; some require all HVAC technicians to have an HVAC license, while others only require someone operating an HVAC service and installation company with employees to hold a contractor’s license. For example, in Alabama, the Alabama Board of Heating Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Contractors regulates licensing, while in Kansas there is no state regulatory body and HVAC licensing can vary by region. For simple furnace repairs like changing out a filter, a trusted handyman can probably handle the job, but a trained professional should be hired for tasks like replacing a gas valve, installing a new inducer fan motor or other critical furnace repair jobs that involve dealing with gas leaks or other dangerous conditions. For more, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have your furnace serviced?

When your furnace isn’t regularly serviced it can operate less efficiently. This increases your energy bills and also prevents your furnace from keeping your home as warm as you like. Keep your furnace properly maintained with regular service. The national average furnace service cost is between $60 and $80. Companies may offer tuneup specials that cover all the necessary testing, tightening, measuring and cleaning to keep your equipment running at top efficiency. If you have a newer system, furnace service costs may be covered by your warranty. Outside of warranty, a basic tuneup might start at $58 and a more advanced maintenance cleaning could be over $120. Here are some signs your furnace may need service:

  • The furnace has stopped functioning entirely.
  • The temperature cannot be regulated.
  • Rooms in the home are either too hot or too cold.
  • The heated air coming from the furnace smells like gas.
  • The thermostat isn’t working.
  • Strange noises are coming from the furnace.

How much will it cost me to replace my air conditioner?

If your AC system is in need of replacement, the national average air conditioner installation costs range from $2,930 to $3,670. Costs can vary greatly depending on whether you are replacing a wall or window unit or a central air system. A central air system is connected to ductwork that runs throughout your house and pumps cooled air into your various rooms via vents and registers. A central air conditioning system is far more costly than wall or window units. Selecting a central AC system that has a high seasonal energy-efficiency ratio (SEER) will likely lower both your carbon footprint and your utility bill. The type of AC system you select, where you live in the country, and the regional costs of HVAC work, duct removal and replacement, and ductwork repairs that are needed are some of the main factors that affect the cost of new air conditioner installation. Here are some examples of average costs for installing forced-air systems.

  • Install Lennox 16 SEER single-stage AC unit: $5,743
    • Removing and disposing of the old furnace, moving and reconnecting the water heater, and installing a 3.5-ton gas furnace. The job took 18 hours of labor.
  • Installation of a new 14 SEER single-range cooling system: $4,000-$6,000
  • Installation of a new 16 SEER two-range cooling system: $6,000-$8,000
  • Installation of a new 20 SEER variable capacity cooling system: $8,000-$12,000

How much will it cost me to replace my furnace?

The national average for furnace replacement is between $1,800 and $2,500. The cost can range dramatically higher depending on the model of furnace you select, any repair work you require, your location and the cost of installation. Furnace installation costs can be more than the furnace itself due to the cost of doing business and the expertise needed to install the HVAC equipment. Installing a new furnace generally requires technical know-how and the proper tools and licensing. It’s best to hire a pro and budget for furnace installation rather than risk potentially unsafe DIY installation. This will ensure your home’s safety. Check to see if your HVAC contractor has the proper licensing to do the job. If you need duct repair or replacement, expect to pay more for your furnace installation costs. The price for duct repair could be an hourly rate ranging on average anywhere from $85 to $150 per hour, with additional costs for parts.

How much does it cost to have your furnace cleaned?

To keep your furnace in good working order it’s important to have it regularly cleaned. The national average furnace cleaning cost ranges from $60 to $80, though prices can vary greatly based on where you live in the country and what your furnace maintenance includes. An HVAC company may have different rates for different levels of furnace maintenance. For example, one company may offer general furnace maintenance for $79 and advanced maintenance for $138. Another company may offer a 38-point maintenance check for $89 and a 64-point maintenance check for $178. According to Energy.gov, a standard furnace cleaning and maintenance visit can include:

  • Checking the vent connection pipe and chimney
  • Checking the physical integrity of the heat exchanger
  • Adjusting the controls to provide optimum air temperatures
  • Checking the combustion chamber for cracks
  • Testing for carbon monoxide (CO)
  • Adjusting the blower control and supply-air temperature
  • Cleaning and oiling the blower
  • Removing soot and corrosion from the furnace
  • Checking the fuel input and flame characteristics
  • Sealing the connections between the furnace and the main ducts
