- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Less is more. I always make sure my first few lessons are easy to understand fun, short and intriguing. Most importantly we are getting to know each other and feel comfortable. There will be note taking, writing and defining, sketching and drawing, etc. I keep the lessons sweet simple and elementary, just learning the party and talking aloud. Slowly they will feel more comfortable and adjust to holding the guitar and what position sitting or standing suits them
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
It all started when I went to college in 2002 and majored in Early Childhood Education, which taught me all about the "child" and whole body (brain) cognitive ways of learning slowly and developing. While I was in college, I needed a part time job and had my guitar thinking there may be a teacher or school that would train me on how to teach guitar lessons and be a certified instructor. I did just that , took a few lessons from a college professor, and was hired on the spot at American Music. Been teaching ever since.
