I was a Division I Athlete -- Boston College track and field as well as rugby. In 2006, my world was turned upside down when I was struck by a light truck while mountain biking home from the gym. I was left immobilized and in severe agonizing chronic pain (hip, lower back and knees). After spending a year in traditional physical therapy, chiropractors, pain pills, muscle relaxants, back braces, shock therapy, massages, and acupuncture, I decided to explore another approach that would give my body a chance to heal and strengthen itself. I spent the next three years working with the top coaches/trainers and specialists to learn exercise protocols to free my body of pain, to reestablish my ability to move in ranges that my body simply said it could no longer do. Due to the accident, I suffered severely compressed and herniated discs resulting in painful sciatica; my hips and knees felt as if it were bone on bone. After 3 years of intensive training, I moved better and have more core and structural strength than I did when I was 20 years old. Today , I am pain-free and again lead an active lifestyle which includes competing in triathlons, mountain hiking, and wakeboarding. My style of training incorporates all the methodologies that I found successful in restoring my health -- not just "show", but "go" training. These methodologies go well beyond traditional training that is taught in most trainer certification courses. I have and continue to educate myself and invest in the best tools and methods for my clients to achieve their desired goals. As an avid fan and amateur in boxing, MMA, football, track-and-field, I incorporate all the conditioning and movements into many of my clients' programs. Even some of my most passive clients seem to enjoy boxing. I have yet to work with any clients (even professional athletes) who were not challenged by my exercise and conditioning programs. My goal with every client is to teach them how to move with ease (effortlessly) to develop strength, speed and endurance. My aim is to make working out simple but effective and challenging. I will educate you as to the right way to build strength, improve balance, prevent injuries, and the best to keep your body strong, lean, agile, and always pain-free. I have been working with Vaughn for about 5 months now. I had a previous trainer in the past, and at that time i felt as though i really understood what a trainer was supposed do for me. That was until i met Vaughn. He has elevated my workouts to a whole new level. His approach is very personalized to my needs and physical abilities. He will incorporate not only what you do in the gym, but what you do outside the gym as well. There is a responsibility on the trainee's part that he holds you accountable to. Vaughn has a goal to bring put your best attributes. There are moments that i feel he believes in me more than i give myself credit for. I highly recommend Vaughn as a personal trainer. This has been one of the best decisions i have made.
Each and every workout is customized to push me out of my comfort zone, improve my strength and endurance and reach my personal goals. Before I found Midtown Trainers, I was having a hard time motivating myself to workout and even when I did manage to get to the gym, my workouts were lacking intensity. Trey is not only there to hold me accountable and motivate me to make the most of my workout but I'm able to achieve the calorie burn in 30 minutes that, in the past, I would've been lucky to accomplish in double the time. Plus Trey's flexible scheduling makes it easy to work around my 12 hour shifts. I came to Thumbtack looking for a trainer to specifically provide workouts to help me lose weight while being low impact for my knees. V listened to concerns during our first meeting and has created workouts that are challenging and high intensity. I look forward to the fact that every workout is different. Already I can feel improved strength in the one leg that I have been favoring for so long! V's coaching style is also excellent. I feel pushed past when I would normally give up while feeling encouraged if have to take a breather. We were able to set up a schedule for 3x a week with relative ease. I do travel to the Civic Center area to workout with him, but I do not have a gym where he could come and train me. So far, I have only had great experiences with V!

Anthony is a phenomenal trainer. He is dedicated and passionate about fitness and overall good health. He inspires and motivates me as well as each and every one of his clients which helps push us to achieve our individual results. I have been training with Anthony consistently for about two years. Although it is a 35 minute commute for me, I would not go anywhere else. I see results! After years of dealing with weight issues due to a back and neck injury, i was finally able to lose 45 pounds. Its not just diet and exercise, its learning to live a healthy lifestyle. All of which Anthony helped me achieve and continues to do so. I love the variety of workouts so you never get bored. You are constantly training to beat your personal goals. It is never about competing with the person next to you.....the focus is to be better than when you stepped in the gym yesterday.
