Introduction: Hello! My name is Kim MacPherson and I started teaching yoga because I believe that yoga is a gift that can help ANYONE, with ANY ailment (physically OR emotionally).
Yes, yoga is a physical practice; but not until I went through an intensive yoga teacher training towards my certification did I realize that yoga embodies ALL facets of our lives. Yoga works you out. It lifts you up. It comforts. It stretches and strengthens you in mind, body, and soul. And based on my own personal experience, I truly believe yoga HEALS.
I am also a Reiki master. Very often, “life” creates areas of stagnation where our internal energy—a.k.a. our life force, our prana, our chi—gets stuck. So my philosophy is to get the energy moving through the body through yoga…then transition and “manipulate” that energy in order for it to best serve you and your life.
That’s why I call this Yoga for Life—because yoga is something that everyone can and should do for their entire lives, whether they’re 8 or 80. And it’s also a practice that can literally change your life.
How do private yoga lessons work? I’ll come to your home 1-3 times per week, I’ll bring all of the tools we’ll need—mat (if you don’t have one), blocks, yoga strap, bolster, etc. And we will complete a full 60-90-minute practice designed exclusively for you and what you need on that specific day. Sometimes you may need to stretch and strengthen and burn calories—a straight physical practice. Other times, you may need a slow, gentle yoga flow along with meditation to heal your mind followed up Reiki and savasana to balance and restore your energy. Still other times, you may need some combination in between, or want to work on specific body parts such as tight hips (MY personal nemesis!) It’s really up to you.
