FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Couples should understand that when they hire me, they are not just paying the officiant to show up and read something printed off the internet. The hour or two that I spends at the venue and perform your ceremony is the main event. It is the culmination of many hours of work that began weeks before your wedding day. A professional wedding officiant, such as myself, is trained in state marriage law, court procedures, script writing, public speaking and much more to be able to present a one of a kind experience for you on your wedding day. There are office expenses, auto, fuel and insurance costs, training costs, and liability insurance costs. All are part of running a business. When you hire me, you are hiring a professional. In the Metro Atlanta area, professional officiant fees run from $300 to more than $700, depending on special additions, the area, and travel. My fees are moderate, in the $350-500 range. Anyone charging less is most likely officiating as a side gig for pocket money. As a professional, you and your wedding are my priority.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I begin with an in person, phone or Zoom consultation to discuss your ceremony vision, wants and desires. If we are a good match, we proceed with the contract signing and payment of a retainer or fee in full to secure your date. I learn more about you through phone, zoom or text, and a questionnaire. I am completely open to most anything you would like to do for your ceremony (except hiking or skydiving). This is YOUR wedding, no one else’s! I will write your custom ceremony using the information I’ve gathered. You will receive a draft the week of your wedding to review and suggest any changes that you would like. I prefer to attend the rehearsal. On your wedding day, I arrive about 45 minutes early to check in with both of you, collect your marriage license and check in with the coordinator and DJ. After the ceremony, I sign your marriage license, take a few photos and leave you to enjoy your reception. I also return your signed marriage license to the court for recording.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a B.S. in Business Administration with concentrations in Marketing and Business Management. I am an ordained minister through American Marriage Ministries and Universal Life Church. I continually keep up with Georgia and South Carolina marriage law and the latest wedding trends.
