FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing accounts for size, materials used, time involved, attention to detail, and my established (yet always-growing!) ability to capture a subject's essence in a way that is both similar to a photograph and, somehow, "lifelike" in a way that photographs are not. Sizes are customizable. Prices are per subject. *For each additional subject, add 40%. *20% price reduction for animal/pet portraits. *Additional fees may apply for complex/detailed backgrounds. Archival-quality, acid-free, 100%-cotton paper is used for portraits in each medium. With color portraits, for unsurpassed light resistance, I use a combination of Faber-Castell Polychromos and Caran d'Ache Luminance colored pencils. For clients with specific questions or special requests regarding the above, contact me at any time. - What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I'll begin with a phone call, briefly discuss client's goal—subject, medium, size, etc., and establish a day and time to meet. This meeting may last from twenty minutes to an hour, and will often include a brief photoshoot of the subject in various poses and lighting. Following photoshoot, client and I will determine which photograph will best translate into a visually captivating and personally meaningful work of art. After meeting and before starting on final drawing, I will email client with a compositional sketch, and proceed upon client's approval. For a complete picture of this process, see my website or contact me directly!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
While having grown up in both an artistic family and a heavily art-focused charter school, and taking a couple of college courses right after high school, I am largely self-taught. A contributing factor is my early involvement in my parents' photography business, shooting weddings, engagements, senior portraits, and so on. In that time I developed a strong eye for lighting and composition.
