FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lessons are always one hour in length. Lessons range from $35/hr to $50/hr depending on skill level and lesson location. Pricing also varies depending on time of day, with peak hours being evenings from 6:00pm to 10:00pm.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First we will discuss the student's skill level and musical background. Complete beginners are certainly welcome, and I've had many successful students who've started from a blank slate. We will then work out which days and times work for the student, and whether the student would prefer in-home lessons or lessons at my home studio in midtown. We'll then settle on a day and time for the intro lesson, and then we're off!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I come from a long line of guitarists back to my great grandfather and perhaps beyond. I began my formal music training in middle school, and I continued through high school where I became an award winning guitarist twice at festival for Marist High School's jazz program. I also received the Louis Armstrong Award, an award given to one student per graduating class. Following high school, I received my degree in Music and Recording Industry Management at MTSU, where I completed four semesters of classical theory, and an additional semester of jazz theory. Since graduation in 2005 I have worked as a guitarist for hire in many areas including weddings, musical pits, studio work, worship services, live bands, etc. I am currently the lead guitarist for the touring Carly Burruss Band. I have been teaching since 1999, and I launched Cordell Music in 2009 with the aim of providing Atlanta with premier music instruction.
