FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
One of the first things potential clients often ask is "how much does an investigation cost?" That is all dependent on the nature of the case and the objectives. A simple locate will typically run between $65-100, depending on expenses. Those types of cases are usually straightforward. The price for a background investigation depends on what it is being used for. A pre-employment screening will cost $65-150 depending on the scope the employer needs. SDI will generate a consumer report for these purposes. Further, for high level employees (with a salary range $75,000 or higher), a more in-depth search will be needed, which may result in an investigative consumer report. These reports, as well as criminal background checks (to include certified records), will be $350 and up. For cases that require surveillance, such as child custody or non-compete contract investigations, the cost will be based on how much time is involved in the field, and the required labor necessary to do the job. If the case is a short term surveillance operation requiring one day of work, this will be significantly lower than a long term job where our objectives are to document patterns of behavior.
