Felencia B. says, "I found Pro S&S Construction and Renovation LLC on Thumbtack and hired the pro for some handyman work. The Pro first came out on August 4th and arrived right on time, ready to work. He asked me to walk him through the project, which included addressing water stains in my formal living room and downstairs bathroom. He clearly explained his process, which involved applying Killz before painting over the stains. During the visit, I mentioned my suspicion that the living room stain was caused by the exterior bay window. He checked and determined the problem wasn’t the bay window at all—it was a window in the bedroom above the living room. Without hesitation, he inspected it, confirmed water residue, and explained exactly how he would seal and caulk the exterior to prevent future leaks. He also addressed other issues, including sealing and applying compound to nail pops and repairing crown molding that had separated from the wall. His work is not only precise but also efficient. On August 15th, he returned to complete the painting and repair the bedroom windowsill. This Pro is very skilled, knowledgeable, punctual, and offers very reasonable pricing. There is a slight language barrier, but nothing that prevented us from understanding each other with attentive listening. I already have additional projects in mind and plan to hire him again. I highly recommend Pro S&S Construction and Renovation LLC to anyone looking for quality, affordable, and reliable work."See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Can I tint the windows in my house?

Yes, you can tint the windows in your house. Many people choose to have a professional do the job for several reasons. The biggest is that window tint looks amazing — meaning practically unnoticeable — when installed correctly.

How long do tinted windows last?

Your house window films can last up to 20 or 30 years, depending on the quality of the film and how well it was installed. If a high-quality film is installed incorrectly, moisture and debris can seep around the edges and ruin it.

How dark should I tint my home windows?

The shade of your window tint depends on the type of glass your window uses, how much reflectivity you want, and your reason for installing tinted windows. If you desire a greater amount of privacy and security, you should opt for a more reflective, thicker tint. Ask window tinters near you to provide an overview of their window film options.

Is it worth it to tint house windows?

High-quality window tinting might be worth the cost, depending on your needs and preference. For example, tinted windows can keep furniture and upholstery from fading due to UV rays. It also blocks some of the sun’s infrared rays to keep your house from getting too hot. Talk to a window tinter near you to discuss the benefits of tinted windows.

How much is it to get your windows tinted?

Window tinting is an easy aftermarket addition that can help reduce your electric bills, decrease glare in the home, increase privacy, protect your furniture and artwork against fading, and better control temperatures throughout your house. The national average cost for residential window tinting is $550. Many window tinting companies charge per square foot, for example, $6-$8 per square foot for materials and installation. Often, companies can offer lower rates for a larger installation project. Window size also affects cost; smaller windowpanes are harder to work with than large, rectangular windows and will likely mean a higher price per square foot. Your utility company may offer you rebates for installing window tinting. Here are two examples of average project installation cost:

  • 110-square-foot window tinting project: $750 for 11 windows tinted.
    • $6.80 per square foot. Customer received $150 from electrical company.
    • Semi-gloss tint.
  • 200-square-foot window tinting project: $1,000 for 10 large-pane windows tinted.
    • $5 per square foot.
    • Reflective silver tint for maximum privacy.
