El Maguey landscaping co. gave superior service to our yard. The weeding removal job he did was superb! I look forward to working with him in the near future on additional landscraping jobs. My family's experience with the service done was great. My husband wants to continue using Adrian to do more landscraping jobs. My husband also wanted to add that the El Maguey landscaping co. did a good job and he gave a reasonable price for the work done.

The job was a massive removal of leaves plus a few other items like cutting down dead flowers, etc. Austin was very prompt in coming out to give me an estimate. He was thorough and fair in his appraisal of the job required. It did take two trips to complete the job due to the wind and weather, but that was not a problem for me. He was on time and had several guys to finish the job. They did finish the job the second day" but it took the whole day and felt rushed due to the fact that Austin had to leave early to take care of his children. That was fine, of course, but it did make the ending of the day hectic and hurried. He did leave another guy in charge but I felt the job would have been better served if Austin could have overseen the entire project and gone over it with me. Thank you

Exceptional is the only way to describe their urgency, value, professionalism and timeliness. After another tree removal company kept rescheduling and not calling us back, they were there in an hour. Friendly, focused and experienced. I HIGHLY recommend this company and can’t express how impressed I was with their service.

I was so pleased and happy. I have gone though lawn services and even had one that actually lasted for a while, but no one has compared to the service provided by this company. I didn't think my lawn could look as good as it does after botched up jobs and lofty promises. To top it off he was from my hometown and was so professional and nice that I felt as though I knew him all my life. Finally I do not have to feel embarrassed about my lawn and I can feel good about it. I cannot say enough good things about the service. Glad to have finally found the one!!

Removal of old lawn and installation of 10,000 square feet of new sod. Daniel, the owner, worked closely with us to meet the specifics we wanted for the job (removal of the top layer by hand--at least where there were weeds), tilling of soil, installation and creation of a defined border with plant beds. Work was done on time and in a very professional manner (starting with the initial bid where we could see examples of their work on his iPad, including videos of the process they followed for removal of old sod and installation of new sod).

Mario just finished up at my place not 20 minutes ago and did absolutely amazing. I had a huge area of brush that was covering a huge stump and he got everything taken care of, as well as got the brush down to the street for me so the city could take it. I just got in contact with him yesterday and he was able to get the job day today which I greatly appreciated. He was very hard working and after we did a walk through of what I needed he got right to work. I had a few little stumps added and he was able to adjust the quote on the spot. If I ever need *any* brush/stump removal again I’m 100% calling Mario. Thank you!!

I worked with All Pro Tree Service to cut down a tree in the backyard of my rental property and I was very impressed with the job they did. Their communication, the cleanup, and most importantly their quote. I had a second company go out prior to them and Allpro's quote came in exceptionally better! I have worked with several tree removal companies in GA and they are hands down one of the best! Thanks for everything!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to have your lawn mowed?

Regular lawn maintenance can do wonders for your home’s curb appeal. Professional lawn care prices will vary based on the regional cost to do business and regional cost of labor, the size of your lawn, and any additional services you may desire such as edging or mulching. The national average for lawn mowing costs is $30-$50. Pros may charge an hourly rate, a flat rate or by the square foot (an acre contains 43,560 square feet). Square footage rates factor in the professional’s time, the use of their equipment, and the gas to operate the mower. Distance may also affect cost: If you live outside the company’s standard service range, you may pay an additional travel fee. Here are some examples of average prices for mowing and lawn maintenance:

  • Up to 8,000-square-foot property: $30 per week/$120 per month.
    • Bimonthly: $40 per service/$80 per month.
    • One time only: $45 per service.
      • Prices include mowing all turf grass areas; trimming grass away from fences, structures, trees, and lawn edges; and clearing or blowing all grass trimmings from driveways, sidewalks, curbs, etc.
  • Hourly rate: $25 per hour (including travel, equipment costs and labor).
  • Lot size:
    • Smaller lots in subdivisions: $35.
    • Half-acre lot: $50.
    • One-acre lot: $100.
