FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I take voice lessons with my own teacher every other week. As a singer, the continuance of voice lessons is extremely important. We don't hear ourselves the way others hear us, and we can see the tiny things that a voice instructor can, so we need the guidance so that we may continue to grow in a healthy direction.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
It began in High School when I realized how incredibly invested I was in music. I had decided on becoming a Chorus Teacher, but then I auditioned for our Spring Musical. We were doing Into the Woods, and I was Cinderella. My most vivid memory from High School was sitting behind the curtains opening night, waiting for the show to begin. It's a feeling I don't know how to accurately describe, but I just knew in that moment that performing was everything I had ever wanted and would ever want for myself. The curtains rose, the music began, and I became a poor, servant girl ridiculed by her awful Step Mother. The journey was long to get to that moment, but that was the defining moment that pushed me to where I am today.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure to hire someone you can trust and who you get along with. A good connection between student and teacher is important for progression as a singer.
