She treated me with ample kindness and skill, knowing precisely when to push me and when to let me breathe—allowing me to feel supported and safe. As Hayley helped me prepare for my Shakespeare monologue, she encouraged me to retain my own interpretation of the text instead of simply telling me what to do. This allowed me to feel more 'in' my body and vocal posture, even with language that was foreign to me. Hayley's hands-on approach to working, with constant consent check-ins and appropriate sanitization, of course, is extremely useful to me. Through it, I can understand exactly where tension lies in my body. We did the monologue multiple times with mutual reflection on my vocal production after each performance, which only helped my voice get stronger and clearer as required for the circumstance of my monologue. I left the room, after only a 30-minute session, feeling energized, free, and knowing exactly what I needed to work on in the next few days to perfect my performance. (I did end up getting the part, and so I have a majority of the work to owe to this solo session!) Hayley is inspirational, professional, and highly knowledgeable in her guidance.
