I contacted Giulia when I was looking for a tutor to help me learn Italian for an upcoming trip to Italy. We were an instant great fit for each other. We have been meeting twice a week, focusing on oral comprehension and conversation skills (verb conjugations, vocabulary, etc.). I only wish I had started sooner so I could be further along. She has been able to individualize/customize for what I want and need each meeting. Giulia has also provided me with additional resources to help me along. I highly recommend her. I am a retired ESOL teacher and I have an understanding of how language learning is supposed to happen. So does Giulia.

I found Thumbtack while googling for a new Italian tutor in Atlanta. I married an Italian man and his family doesn't speak English so I really needed someone to help me learn the language before going to visit them in Italy. I had already taken classes and worked with someone else but I was looking for a teacher who would help me elevate my conversational understanding of the language. Hadi, with Your Language Experts, was EXACTLY who and what I was looking for. She created a lesson plan specifically for me and we met when my schedule allowed. We would spend half the class just chatting in Italian and while it didn't seem like a class, I walked away knowing much more than I did when I came in. Now I am returning from a 6-week stay in Italy with my in-laws where I could ONLY speak Italian. So now that I have put Hadi's work to the test, I can safely say that she completely prepared and enabled me to create a special bond with my new family. If you are looking for a teacher to help you understand the language and the depth of the Italian culture, then work with Hadi. You won't regret it. I look forward to maintaining my Italian with Hadi even after my trip!

Marisol is AMAZING!!! I started taking Spanish lessons with her knowing very little Spanish and she was the most friendly, professional and patient teacher. She always came prepared with lessons and books and she always took some time at the end to practice my conversational speaking in Spanish. Marisol made learning Spanish fun and interesting! Marisol also took the time to help me learn specific Spanish phrases and vocabulary words for my job so I could engage my Spanish speaking customers. Marisol was always flexible with my schedule on days/times to meet and was willing to meet close by my home at a local coffee restaurant for lessons. I highly recommend Marisol if you are considering learning Spanish for the first time or just need a refresher in the language, Marisol is the BEST Spanish teacher!!!

Just in the beginning of Ana assessing where I'm at as far as fluency. It's been fun. She provides a few exercises throughout the week to do and is good at providing feedback with pronunciation during the lessons. Her accent helps train your ear to the Spanish language and I appreciate that a lot!

I enjoyed the ACT tutoring course because I was given the same about of effort from my tutor, Mrs. Hypolite that I put into the lessons. She helped me increase my composite score 4 points. We set a goal, and focuced on each subject and where I needed to improve it. Our lessons were never rushed and I met each of my sub score goals successfully.

Andrea knows how to teach you the language not just words or phrases. She was very proficient with helping me with correct pronunciation. She will communicate with you in Spanish to get you comfortable with speaking and hearing it.

Throughout the year I attended Tutelage Academy, Charles has helped me become a more productive student. Not only did he teach me how to study effectively through deliberate practice, but he also taught me lifestyle choices such as time management which I still implement into my life daily. Charles emphasized the importance of time and how it should be spent, and his work ethic exhibits this belief. Everything he states from a step-by-step technique to a witty life story turns into a lesson.

Charles Justus Garard, Jr. PhD I have known Dr. Garard for approximately 28 years and worked with him as a colleague, teaching at the college level from 1989 until 2003. During my association with Dr. Garard, I have observed his expertise not only in teaching and mentoring but also in his writing skills. He was exceptional at proofreading several of my documents and manuscripts, as well as offering other colleagues writing and literary assistance. In addition to his regular college teaching duties, he taught English as a second language on weekends to students in several minority communities in Atlanta. He traveled to China as a professor in English language, literature, and writing, where he served for seven (7) years. Dr. Garard has demonstrated an outstanding talent with the English language and is an invaluable asset to both writers and editors. Please feel free to contact me if I can offer further insight into Dr. Garard’s gifted abilities. Donald W. Blair 404-375-1435

About

My name is Patty, and I am 27 years old. I am always looking to learn new things and would love putting what I have learned to use by helping others in achieving their goals for growth. While I have poked my nose in a little of a lot of different topics, I am most fluent in the Spanish language. My Spanish background starts with my family, being that I am Hispanic and come from a fluently Spanish speaking family. I have also done many translating jobs as well as worked in professional environments were there were large solely Spanish speaking communities. I have not quite done any professional Spanish tutoring; however, I am confident that I can help you to be fluent in speaking, reading and writing in the Spanish language.

About

I have been teaching Spanish. I teach kids in grades one and two with homework, and I do tutoring with homework, too.

About

I'm a great tutor not only because I know my Spanish well, but I have the keen ability to motivate students to do their best. I love empowering people and seeing them get excited about what they can do. So even when I teach a student who is struggling at first, they end up gaining confidence in themselves and see the material as fun and exciting. To me, that is the greatest reward--seeing students' success and being a part of that success.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a Spanish tutor do?

The goal of a Spanish tutor is to help students improve their Spanish reading, writing, comprehension, and conversation skills. The tutor’s approaches may vary, depending on whether the instruction is individual or a group class. Many Spanish tutors practice immersion — meaning they will speak only Spanish with their pupils. For students with little to no Spanish experience, the Spanish tutor may use a mix of Spanish and English to accustom their students to speaking the language.

A Spanish tutor can offer a wide range of services to their students. For students currently enrolled in a Spanish class through their middle school or high school, a Spanish tutor can help them with homework and language practice, as well as expanding their understanding of their current school curriculum. For adults, Spanish tutors will have different approaches based on that student’s need. Academics and those seeking high-level professional development for their career will often have more intensive and targeted lessons, drills, and interactive speaking tests. For adults who wish to learn conversational Spanish for fun or for travel, lessons may revolve around learning commonly used phrases and practicing speaking in relaxed settings.

How much do Spanish tutors charge?

Nationally, the average cost for a Spanish tutor ranges from $30 to $40 per hour. The cost for a Spanish tutor can vary depending on whether you choose private instruction or group lessons. Geographic location can affect cost; tutors in expensive cities and pricier regions command higher rates than in rural areas and small towns. The experience and education of the Spanish tutor will also affect their rates. For adult education, many people learning Spanish choose to join a Spanish school with tutors who teach group classes and also offer private tutoring for students. Typically these schools charge a monthly tuition that gives students access to a set number of classes per week, with private tutoring available at an additional cost. One example of an average cost is a monthly tuition of $200, which includes five 90-minute group lessons per month. Monthly tuition can vary depending on the school and the teachers. Short-term workshops are also a way to learn Spanish. Students may work with a Spanish tutor and group of other students at their skill level for a short period of time. One example of an average price is $100 for an eight-week course, with one 60-minute group class per week.
