FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Come As You Are... I like to customize each yoga lesson by first talking to a new customer before we meet to understand what they are interested in for their practice and to find out about any injuries or concerns they may have so I can begin any modifications for the lesson/lessons. On our first lesson/meeting, I will assess how a customer's body moves and any limitations so I can begin to build a practice. Each lesson is unique, yet each time on the mat it's learning to stretch and strengthen the body with care and kindness. I want each customer I work with to have a program for wellness and over-all-health, from the inside out.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I continue to attend yoga conferences yearly. I also take all day intensive yoga workshops as well as immersion trainings (such as 120 hrs). I also study with my yoga teacher's teacher who is a yoga master.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been practicing yoga now for 18 years and meditating for 25 years. My family had suffered a personal tragedy and that began my journey of seeking. I have to say I did not like yoga the first time I went to class. I didn't get it, I didn't understand the teacher and if my body could get into a pose my mind was agitated and if my mind my calm my body was agitated. Fortunately, the seeds were planted and quickly I started to notice the benefits of yoga. I am an artist and for many year spent my time in an editing suite. I loved my job but was missing something. When we relocated to Atlanta, I realized I wanted to be more in life more in the sunshine. I began to go to more yoga classes and really started to understand what was missing. It was that connection to my spirit. Once I got in touch with that emotional side more and more and began to connect with my heart, I knew I wanted to deepen my practice. I wanted to share all the benefits I received from yoga with others.
